A Very Unfortunate Typo
Every morning, I receive--and look forward to receiving--an e-mail from The Daily Beast called "The Morning Scoop" outlining the hot stories of the day. This morning, the Beast chose to highlight a story about Scott Walker. Here is its teaser paragraph, with a very unfortunate typo in the lead sentence:
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker apparently would like to see pubic-employee unions busted outside his own state borders as well: He has been calling other governors and encouraging them to adopt similar tactics, according to The Washington Post. He speaks regularly with Ohio Governor John Kasich and Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval, and he has suggested to Michigan and Florida's governors that they break public unions also. Walker's conversations with these governors were made apparent after a liberal blogger prank-called him pretending to be conservative billionaire David Koch.
The pubic employees are not going to be happy about that one.

Re: A Very Unfortunate Typo
As a CPA, trust me, you never want your company's annual report going to the printers under the imprimatur of a firm of Certified Pubic Accountants. Well, unless you're Larry Flynt.

Re: A Very Unfortunate Typo
Gov. Walker has taken the leading role in breaking the ruinous public employee grip on our economy. With the recent elections returning power to conservatives in many states across the nation, there is no better time to break the unions.
With the union’s immediate, organized response in Wisconsin, Ohio and Indiana (despite Daniels’ squish), Gov Walker’s coordination with states is entirely appropriate. As more and more states tackle this issue simultaneously, the unions will find their responses to be greatly diluted and much less effective.

I had to do the same just to make sure I wasn't mis-reading it : )!

Re: A Very Unfortunate Typo
I've read the lead sentence dozens of times and cannot find the typo; the content swamps the delivery mechanism. The clues posted by others are too diverse to bring focus to my efforts.
Ahhh! Never mind...

I wonder if pubic service jobs will show any growth this quarter to, you know, stimulate the economy.

Horribly, horribly bereft and desolate that you never responded to this:

Re: A Very Unfortunate Typo
I once referred to the Utah Public Service Commission as the Utah Pubic Service Commission in a legal pleading. (They forgave me and told me it wasn't the first time).
Spell check doesn't help--if you misspell a word by spelling another word, it thinks you really mean it.

Well, slap my forehead. My wife and I both have our spell check functioning no better than Word. Spent a lot of otherwise useful time on this one.

Unfortunately, regardless of spelling, I think the answer historically has been the direction is always up.

They should run some testes on the keyboard to see what is causing these typos.
