Last week, we took a bit of heat for not announcing that we have moved the podcasts to Thursdays while Rob's TV show is in production. So we wanted to get the word out early and loudly that for this week only, we're moving to Friday so our good pal Jonah Goldberg could join us for the full hour.

To pass the time, get your hands on a copy of Jonah's new book The Tyranny of Cliches: How Liberals Cheat in the War of Ideas either on Amazon or later this week, on Audible (Jonah reads it!).

Also, enjoy (OK, that may be the wrong word) this interview Jonah did yesterday with world class twit Piers Morgan. On Friday, we'll ask Jonah how he was able to resist the urge to reach across the table and clock him (h/t Ricochet member Joseph Eager).

So, I learned absolutely nothing about "Tyranny of Cliches," but I did learn that Piers Morgan came across as a petulant bully who is more interested in the big "gotcha" of "Is Mitt Romney a dork?" and "What is the difference between a stiff and a dork."

What a waste of time.

Andrew Barrett: Typical liberal media type.  Invite conservative on show to discuss book.  Ignore book.  Hammer conservative over the head with disingenuous arguments.  God bless Jonah!!!

It was beautiful, however, that after Jonah finished explaining that his book is about how clueless most liberals are concerning how ideological they really are, Piers Morgan could not have done a better job proving his point. · 31 minutes ago

I was waiting for Jonah to say, "You know Piers,  this interview has been great because my book is about YOU, and every other journolush who pretends to be a centrist."

That would have been grand!

Jonah is very, very lucky to be talking to Piers Morgan. Think how much worse the interview would have gone if someone who wasn't an unbiased centrist was interviewing him.

I do not know how to add other comments but yes, this is a valuable "discussion". Even if you hate old, puffed-up Piers. Jonah took him on very well and with a relaxed and intelligent style showing that there are different political views and men you woukd like to invite over fir a beer-jonah, not Piers. This is the CNN audience, they may be interested enough to pick up Jonah's book.Yes, it is very important because Piers way if thinking has taken over Britain. Canada too. It is incredibly important that we hear the other arguments and learn how to discuss with people. I hide my political thinking because it is Piers who dominates on the CBC and the BBC. Being British in background, I have seen this Piers outlook take over and kill a once bright and caring society. It is shocking to me now to visit the UK and Imagine thousands of Piers types taking up media and politics. Just took 40 years and my family staying silent. So bring on Jonah! Give Piers a good thrashing.

Oh my goodness.  I want to clock Piers after watching only 2 minutes.

ljt: So how many other First and last -time viewers were there to the show?

I recorded it, based on Jonah's tweets, and it was my first time watching Mr Morgan (in the US - in the UK he is well known as a, err, twit - which is presumably why he moved to the US after he was fired as a newspaper editor).

It was painful - that's also the last time I will watch Mr Morgan's show.

I did enjoy the expressions on Jonah's face though.

Hopefully Jonah will not allow Piers to interrogate him in future.  It is quite simple to say "You tell me".

Jonah probably had nightmares after admitting he could be a stiff and a dork.

One thing that is so very insulting to me about this incident is that although I've never written a book, I assume that there is a lot of hard work involved.  I think Jonah may have mentioned this on the Ricochet podcast.  He gets 10 to 12 minutes, and the interviewer insists upon ignoring all of his hard work and talking about stupid stuff just to waste Jonah's time.

Perhaps the real cure to fixing something like the old Larry King Show would be to use a group of rotating hosts.  Like picking a good book reviewer, find someone who is actually interested and cares about the subject.

I wonder if perhaps the interviewer is about to quit, be fired, or is under pressure to be more confrontational to spark interest in getting higher ratings.

Wow, if I hadn't already had reason to dislike Piers Morgan, there's a good one.  What an incredibly insipid final few questions he asked.

This British journalist thought Jonah looked rather like Ron Burgandy but supports Jonah's views in the interview.http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/timstanley/100154555/obamas-tacky-i-shot-bin-laden-ad-has-turned-a-military-triumph-into-a-political-disaster/Do you think Jonah needs a stylist?

(unrelated to PM) I think Obama needs to start using his Nobel Peace Prize win for his re-election campaign.  Don't you think it's time?

Oh hell. Look what I did. I'll never be able say that I've never seen a Piers Morgan interview. Feel dirty. Must wash.

Jonah's ability to expound extemporaneously on the difference between "stiff" and "dork" on live television was remarkable. Jonah's wit is monumental and I love to cheer as he battles the stupid.

What a Foxtrot Charlie (i.e. Feckless C**p-Weasel).  Apparently, like serving in Congress, there is no I.Q. test to be employed by CNN.

It's not likely that Morgan is as stupid as he appeared to be in this attack on Jonah.  Rather, I think he was purposely refusing to understand Jonah's arguments in order to get Jonah so angry and frustrated that he (Jonah) would say something he would regret.  To his credit, Jonah kept his cool.  I've seen people walk out of an interview for less.
