Have you been to the Obama campaign site? A lot of it is devoted to pictures that, like this one, portray volunteering and doing campaign stuff as amazingly involving, uplifting, and fun. Volunteering and doing campaign stuff is, indeed, all these things, but maybe a little less consistently ecstatically so than the campaign suggests. It seems unsurprising to me that AP would pick up and echo Obama For America's message.
