According to Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul, within an hour of the SCOTUS ruling, donations topping $300,000 for the morning had rolled in to the Romney campaign.

Romney Silver Lining

Update (3:20 pm Pacific): Romney has raised over $2 million for the day from over 20,000 donors.

I for one donated $100 this morning. Even with my wife out of work and recovering from knee replacement surgery (the reason she's out of work), this was too important.

We've just been redefined from "citizens" to "subjects." Appalling.

Romney has at least 3 big arguments:
1. Obama imposed a huge new tax on working people.
2. Obama deceived the American people by saying it was not a tax, when it was.
3. The law made it look like money would go to insurance companies — in the form of new premiums — that would keep premiums low as the companies were required to take on people with pre-existing conditions, but now we find out that the money is really going to go to the federal government. [ADDED: So get ready for your premiums to spiral up and/or for insurance companies to be ruined.]

Sure, he'll repeal it if it's the cool thing to do, but will he repeal if simply because it's the right thing to do?

As I mentioned in another thread, at this point I am trying to decide whether to donate to the Romney campaign or the Seasteading Institute. I am leaning toward the latter.

If a Republican Congress puts a repeal on his desk, he will sign it.

Romney is the only new hire that small business can afford. At least they don't have to pay for his healthcare.

It is possible that he will repeal it because (whatever he thought in MA) he now recognizes that it is horrible for the economy.

Honestly, I don't care either way. As long as he'll repeal it. That's what ultimately, matters yeah?

And to Diane's post - I've never donated to a campaign before (hey...I'm only 28!), but that will change today.

The Senate.  We have to take it back now.

Well I sent him 25$ after I learned of this decision. I think we really need to put our money were our mouths are. I'm a graduate student I don't make a lot of money so if I am mad enough to fork over 25 bucks you guys with real jobs should easily be able to put down that much at least. (I am not a Romney campaign worker by the way)

I just made my first-ever campaign contribution. When the contributions for this day are totaled, I'll be proud to be part of today's take. Thanks, Diane, for inspiring me!

This is money down the drain. Romney may or may not sign a repeal and he has no shortage of funds. The Senate and House are where hopes lies if it lies anywhere. For myself I'm doubling down on  Tea Party challengers, in state, out of state, anywhere they have a chance or even if they don't.

You and me better make sure that Romney has some coattails. From the top of the ticket on down, nothing can be done halfheartedly. Romney's success (or failure) will affect those further down the ticket. It always does.

Generally agree.  I gave to Romney, but my money is going to the house and particularly the SENATE races.

I'm with you.  Made my first-ever donation to a presidential candidate  just a few moments ago.  You all inspired me.

Just put my Debit Card where my mouth is. First time ever giving money for a President. If today doesn't inspire me to crack open the wallet for a presidential vote.  What should?
