This week, entertainment writer and podcaster Richard Rushfield sits in for the vacationing Jennifer Rubin (we know many of you will be crushed to read that). We go mostly pop culture for this edition, with lots of talk about Newroom, whether or not Ted is the first funny studio comedy of this decade, is Girls worthy of the hype, why every journalist really works for Twitter, and a peek into glamorous lifestyle of Los Angeles based bloggers (see photo).
Ricochet members, subscribe and get this podcast on your mobile device (and get the direct link) here. But do what we do and listen on Stitcher. Everyone else, listen in above.

Re: A Fine Show
I love Jennifer! I know some members do not, but I find her funny and engaging (please keep her, in other words).

Re: A Fine Show
Jennifer has slowed down to give Mickey space, let him get out his points which are worth hearing, and then give back her opinions. It would be good to hear Jennifer ask questions too to vary her conversation and to give a gender fair distribution of time ( joking about using gender to distribute time talking). Jennifer has found the rhythm and it has greatly improved her conversation. The last podcast brought up a range of superb ideas. This podcast is one of of my top picks and I quote Jennifer and Mickey. I also have started enjoying their writing too.

Re: A Fine Show
I realise I've been looking at this all wrong. The emphasis isn't on the Left and Right, it's on the Coasts!

Re: A Fine Show
Does anyone else find it ironic that Jennifer Rubin representing the Right writes for the Washington Post, while Mickey Kaus representing the Left writes for the Daily Caller?

Re: A Fine Show
Rubin may be slightly more liberal than Mickey, but mark my words, she could never be a Democrat. She doesn't buy their corporatist "we'll give every special interest group a 'seat at the table'" philosophy. For example, Mickey would accept pro-choice Democrats because that's how his party works, while Rubin would never accept anything other than pro-life Republicans.

Re: A Fine Show
With all due respect to Mr. Rushfield , who doubtless has many virtues, when it comes to Ricochet Left Coast/Right Coast, he just ain't bringin' it. I listened as long as I could, including fast forwarding to see if it got better. Then I just bailed. Below I offer suggestions for future replacements when necessary, on the principle that the quality of the conversation overrides fidelity to the concept, should there be a clash. In for Jennifer - Mary Katharine Ham, Katie Pavlich, Jim Pinkerton, Byron York, Jonah Goldberg, Ed Morrissey, Glenn Reynolds, Duane Patterson, Mitch Berg. In for Mickey--Glenn Loury, John McWhorter, Mark Kleiman, Mark Schmitt, Bob Wright, Michelle Goldberg, Jane Hamsher. In for either one--Ann Althouse, David Brooks, David Frum

Re: A Fine Show
Mr. RushFIELD, fwiw, I very much enjoyed your discussion with Mr. Kaus. You have great chemistry, and the subject was fascinating. I've subscribed to your Tumblr blog (or at least I think I did?), and I hope you will return, or be doing some podcast somewhere--or do you already?

Re: A Fine Show
Will Mr. Rushfield eat a croissant while podcasting to provide a seamless substitution???

Re: A Fine Show
I enjoyed the podcast. And I am not too right wing for Ms. Rubin.

Re: A Fine Show
I just got around to listening and I'm glad I did. I quit listening to this podcast because of the frustration with Ms. Rubin dominating the conversation. I was glad to read in comments that she has improved, but I would be happy with Mr. Rushfield any time. He's seems as thoughtful and insightful as Mickey. I thoroughly enjoyed this.
