A Brokered Convention? As of Next Tuesday's Primaries, It Might Become "Extremely Likely"
The GOP's very own Machiavelli, Roger Stone, writing on the StoneZone:
If Santorum continues his surge by winning Michigan with the Tea Party-Evangelical-Working Class vote while Romney wins Arizona due to the large Mormon populace and seniors, the brokered convention becomes extremely likely as the GOP primary will turn into a race divided by regional preferences - Santorum carrying the Midwest, Gingrich parts of the South and Romney performing in the Northeast and West which is dominated by moderates and senior voters.

Compared to Obama's incoherent, pernicious foreign policy?

I think the only difference we have is that I'm potentially seeing something coming out of left field at an underprepared/unvetted nominee. It's all a very long shot.

If Gingrich wins a lot of Southern states and Romney performs poorly, a brokered convention becomes plausible. As things stand, Gingrich looks set to win his home state on Super Tuesday and no other. It's hard to see Santorum collapsing fast enough and hard enough not to leave Gingrich clearly marginal. Santorum follows up with wins in AL/MS and Newt is done as a genuine force. Hard to get the two horse race close enough for the question to arise.
