Kevin McCarthy on the Art of Candidate Recruitment
In my post earlier today, I referenced the recent episode of Uncommon Knowledge we filmed with the new House Majority Leader, California’s Kevin McCarthy. Herewith, the first in a series of clips from that interview, in which Leader McCarthy explains the art of candidate recruitment — and the farmer from Frog Jump, Tennessee who defined the 2010 elections.

Peter any chance you can get Bruce Thornton on Uncommon Knowledge again. I think ISIS is a good enough reason why. That and fact that the President specifically mentioned they had nothing to do with Islam.
You could get 10 mins at least out of him debunking that. Or at least this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0HIXUWRjrE
Either way would be interesting. And honest.
My apologies, Peter, but…
It was quieter, as he was speaking directly to you, but what I heard was a well-rehearsed Stock Stump Speech. At a gut level, McCarthy was unconvincing, even though he had an excellent message. I don’t know why such a ponderous phrase arose, but when he finished, what came to mind was “unctuous insincerity.”
Maybe I just need more coffee…
