US Federal govt outlay, per capital, per year, inflation adjusted

Ottoman Umpire: It looks like she fixed it. The result is incredibly depressing.

Ottoman Umpire: Even spending during the Civil War was a tiny blip, per capita, of what it is today.

Ross Conatser: It certainly is an astonishing rise, but a liberal (who could cough up a coherent thought) might reply that this increase in spending has coincided with increase in the standard of living for the average american that an 18th century person could hardly fathom.  I think this is a more effective slide.
