Does the Republican party have control over its own debates ?

How is it that the Republican party lets MSM outlets manage so much of the debate process when we know that they are barely concealed adversaries with no interest in seeing the candidates speak to significant issues ?

It does make you wonder: If they can't manage to showcase well their own candidates' debates, how can we possibly trust them to run the country?
