Upgrade Side-effects
Apologies to those of you who came to Ricochet over the weekend, and found the site still dealing with some side-effects of Saturday morning's upgrade of our platform.
While I've resolved most of the issues, there are still a couple:
- The blockquote button is not compatible with the current upgraded platform, and will take me a day or two to fix. There is no workaround for now.
-
You may not be able to link to another page, or embed images, while editing a comment or conversation. If this happens, you may still have some of the previous version's JavaScript code cached in your browser.
WORKAROUND: Make sure to copy or save your content, then, while still on the page with your comment or conversation, hold down the Shift key and click the Reload button (usually a circular arrow in or near the browser's address bar or URL field). This tells the browser to fetch all the new code from our servers.
If there are any other difficulties with the site, such as the absence of the "Sign In" or "Sign Out" links at the top-right of the page, first try the Shift-Reload trick above, then contact us at support@ricochet.com if that doesn't work.
In the meantime, I know the source of the problems above and am working on the solutions. Thank you for your patience, and for being readers and Members of Ricochet!

Re: Upgrade Side-effects
BSA, been there, done that with post-upgrade scrambling. Thanks for all the hard work!

Re: Upgrade Side-effects
I keep wondering if there is an HTML based workaround to your java based WYSIWYG comments tool. I would prefer to link images and hyperlinks in html if possible.

Re: Upgrade Side-effects
Just when I was clearing cache again to try a fix, Rush mentions Paul Rahe's post on the site. We've been scrambling ever since.
Next upgrade will be to better servers.

I bet the voice in your head sounds just like Scotty from Star Trek right now.

Re: Upgrade Side-effects
Is one side affect of the change that Paul Rahe's post climb to the top of the queue no matter what view mode you are in? Or has he found some enterprising Hillsdale College student to hack the site?

Re: Upgrade Side-effects
Paul Rahe's post was marked as "sticky" after the mention on Limbaugh's program, to help the rush of visitors find it. It has since been unstuck.
