A True Leader indeed. I heard he wasn’t going to make the cut off for the next debate…
Well, good riddance.
Congratulations, Chris. You spent $6 million to secure tenth place in Iowa, sixth place in New Hampshire, and keep John Kasich alive for a few more weeks. Good show.
’bout time.
Now all of the candidates I had any interest in are out of the race (Walker and Jindal long gone). I wasn’t completely sold on Christie, but he was in the running for sure; “the embrace” didn’t bother me one bit and I don’t think it made any difference to the race – that failure was all Romney’s.
Christie didn’t exactly distinguish himself this campaign, and he could have snuffed out Trump before he even got started simply by returning to form and boldly telling it like it is like in the videos that endeared Christie to the right in the first place. He’s been flat ever since the 2012 convention speech and hasn’t seemed to recover.
This is good news for Trenton pizzerias.
Bad timing, he can quit watching his weight but Lent just started.
Wow. Chris Christie is really good at getting Democrats elected into high office.
Good.
Christie missed his shot in 2012. He’s done nothing but undermine himself and others since.
As a [mostly] Rubio guy, I wasn’t happy to see Christie jump him. However, I’m grateful Christie did so. We cannot have a general election candidate who pulls a Romney and freezes when ambushed. Rubio should’ve had obvious comebacks at hand. After all, who repeats himself more than Mr. “I was a Federal prosecutor” or Governor “this is more of that Washington mumbo-jumbo?”
Marco better get his act together, pronto.
I initially liked Christie when he first burst onto the scene. His act grew more wearisome through the years. He didn’t accomplish much of anything he ran on, and I do think his warm welcome and photo ops with Obama effected the election. His convention speech was nothing but a unseemly self-promotion in lieu of helping the actual candidate and it didn’t even succeed at making Christie look good. His performance in this campaign has been entirely obnoxious throughout and his latest bit of dirty work for Bush has done nothing but help Trump. Christie sold his soul for an empty promise of a cabinet post for a president who never will be. [CoC] Christie and the team of Clydesdales he needed to ride in on. I don’t want to hear about again Christie until his impending heart attack is announced.
This will likely mark Christie’s departure from the national stage. Enough conservatives and Republicans blame his “embrace” as one of the late reasons Obama beat Romney (47% remarks aside), and enough of the same people now see him as a potential spoiler to the only candidate polling as a winner head-to-head with Clinton and Sanders. He would have held Trump’s position in the race had it not been for the bridge fiasco, and he’ll offer nothing new to a national electorate from here on out.
Perhaps Christie will take some measure of himself as a human being and reflect on what a possible disservice he’s done for this country. Or to put it more bluntly, have as much pizza and beer as you want now, governor. No one cares about your political aspirations anymore. You at least showed us what a colossal jerk you were and what a mistake it would have been to have ever taken you seriously.
I won’t jump to conclusions and be fooled again, perhaps he is just going home to get some fresh clothes.
No doubt he worked up a bit of a sweat beating up on Rubio and helping to ensure Kasich stays with us a bit longer.
I guess it’s not a surprise. The best to the Governor.
Gosh, I don’t know why people are so mean. I didn’t support him, but dancing on someone’s grave is as classy as Donald Trump. Are we all becoming Donald Trumps? Internet snarkyness I guess.
When the change was made uptown
And the Fat Man left the band,
From the coastline to the city
All the little pretties raised their hands.
I’m gonna sit back right easy and laugh
When Marco and the Cruz Man bust this city in half
With the Tenth Avenue freeze-out,
Tenth Avenue freeze-out.
I would happily say this to his face. He knifed Romney at the convention and then during Sandy. He has been a complete menace to NJ gun owners, he hasn’t reformed jack in his state and has ruined it’s credit. He is a blowhard and an obnoxious ass. He deserves no warm wishes or praise for anything he’s done in his political life.
He can go back to his Jersey bubble.
I think it more likely that Christie though he had a legitimate shot at winning or placing in NH. Now the results are in.
I don’t like Christie for the same reason I don’t like Kasich: I want my Republican candidates to be conservatives.
Maybe now we can all be spared the annoying fat jokes. Whether they were mundane or malicious, they were always cliché and overused.
Wasn’t he some kind of prosecutor or something?
Well, why not take out Bush or Kasich? They were easier targets, especially Kasich. The idea that knocking down Rubio would vault Christie from 5% in the polls past all three in his lane and give him a huge boost is just too stupid to believe. Of course that doesn’t mean he wasn’t that delusional, I just doubt it. I’m sure he saw the writing on the wall after Iowa and knew the only way he could get something from this failed bid was by playing spoiler for some reward on the back end.
How does Christie look at the aftermath of his Jersey schoolyard bully attack on Rubio? Does he think he took one for the team in exchange for taking Rubio down a few pegs?
I would much rather it been Bush and/or Kasich. I could possibly see myself voting for Christie, but I have a much harder time voting for either of those two.
He and Obama killed OBL with a hug.
Like Fricosis, I’m also a ‘mostly’ Rubio guy. His debate performance disturbed me, but am willing to give him another shot. I look at Christie’s effective take down of Rubio as a plus. If Rubio is not able to pivot and react accordingly, then he really shouldn’t be playing at this high stakes table. Better to know now than after the nomination.
So, for that, Christie we thank you… enjoy Summer at Wildwood.
One liar out – one more to go
A quick stroll down memory lane to 2012; Christy refused to provide info to Romney’s vetting team, which means he either didn’t want to be the VP candidate or, more likely, the guys got more skeletons in his closet than you can count.
Glad to see him off the national stage – permanently
That’s just it though, this really wasn’t an ambush. Christie had been making comments in the Press calling Marco a “bubble boy” and robotic before the debate. It is worse than being ambushed. When your opponent telegraphs his shot, you really need an answer.
Maybe Rubio gets better from this. We want our candidates fire tested and ready for the big stage.
