Breaking: SCOTUS Strikes Down Texas Abortion Laws
Via NBC:
Published in LawThe U.S. Supreme Court on Monday struck down one of the nation’s toughest restrictions on abortion, a Texas law that women’s groups said would have forced more than three-quarters of the state’s clinics to shut down. Passed in 2013, the law said clinics providing abortion services must meet the same building standards as ambulatory surgical centers. And it required doctors performing abortions to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals.
Since the law was passed, the number of clinics providing abortion services in Texas dropped to 19 from 42. Opponents said that number would fall to ten if the Supreme Court upheld the law.
The Center for Reproductive Rights called the law “an absolute sham,” arguing that abortion patients rarely require hospitalization and that many patients simply take two pills.
[…]
The court’s decision will affect similar laws in twelve other states, some now on hold because of court challenges. The restrictions in Texas represented a new front in efforts to restrict abortion by focusing on protecting the health and safety of the mother rather than the life of the fetus.
So much for caring about women’s health.
God forbid an abortion clinic has the same sanitary conditions as other surgical centers, because we all know abortions don’t involve any biohazards at all!!!
hey any prolifers thinking of sitting it out this election or voting for Hillary, take note of this decision
EDs,
Once again the US Supreme Court exhibits left-wing derangement syndrome. The original major argument for making abortion legal was to get rid of the rusty coat hanger.
Those 23 abortion clinics that don’t meet standards are a rusty coat hanger that is making the charlatans running these places a fortune.
Between the fantasy of the SSM “Love” decision and this abomination, the Supreme Court is completely out of its mind.
Regards,
Jim
One of my favorite pastors, a truly wonderful man, used to say that we’ll not win this fight with laws, but by changing the hearts and minds of the people. And its a winnable fight. This is human life; beautiful, human life.
I think the graphic pictures of torn bodies causes people to just look away. The pro-life movement needs to show the beautiful life, the beating hearts, the fingers and toes of living children in the womb. Humanize this life. Shame the people who want to call these children ‘gobs of goo’ or ‘clumps of cells’.
added: this is 2016, and we have very effective birth control. We have better ways, more humane ways now: just don’t create the life you don’t want. Don’t create life you’ll only destroy.
This is one of the great ironies – that they really don’t care about the women, and their mental or physical health.
This is how I know God is God and I’m not. I would have smote us a long time ago for such depravity.
Oh, come on! It’s just a pregnancy. It’s not like it’s a child or something!
.. Then why have the clinics at all. Women can just go to their doctor.
Anthony Kennedy. Again.
This is why Because Judges! increasingly doesn’t sway GOP voters. Democrat-appointed judges are ideologically faithful, never swaying from the party line on major cases. Republican judges have a long history of “crossing the aisle” to join them.

“If God doesn’t destroy San Francisco and Los Angeles pretty soon, he’s going to owe Sodom and Gomorrah a big apology” – Jay Leno, years ago.
I demand a retrial!
The culture of death strikes again and are poised to elect their high priestess, Hillary, as President. These people are evil.
Even if you believe these laws were poorly crafted what the heck was the constitutional basis for this?
“Abortions cost; rapes are free.”
Billary 2016 – Because the sweet meteor of death should arrive sooner not later.
Obviously there isn’t one, it’s just that this law is having the effect of shutting down clinics that don’t comply with the standards that the state has every right to determine for their health clinics, and Democrats don’t like that.
This shouldn’t have even made it to the Supreme Court.
You mean “any pro-women’s healther.”
#Texit (semi kidding)
If He did, it wouldn’t matter. No one would learn any lessons and everyone would help rebuild each and every house of depravity.
Just like if … oh never mind.
Sign me up.
2 words, Donald Trump.
The next Republican president and Republican congress need to take extraordinary measures to reign in the out-of-control Supreme Court.
How do you propose they do that?
So you really can’t use “stupid” in the title of a post.
If ever one merited the use of that word, this decision is it.
The United States Supreme Court: “Let Gosnell be Gosnell”.
“We don’t want women to get back-alley abortions, we want them to go to legal clinics that aren’t up to code.”
This part of the majority opinion is pretty interesting:
Yes, but in what other law has this concern for over regulation ever been a concern for the Left?
None… It is odd that applying the same standard to all medical surgical services is a burden only for abortionists and not other Doctors.
I am curious if your Pastor ever offered an example in all of human history when great and very profitable entrenched evil was ever overcome with education and changing hearts and not the complete destruction of its power, authority and ideology by force?
Even the civil rights movement entailed bloodshed (starting in 1861) and force to resolve the issue and it wasn’t won by silly mass marches but by the force of the State.
This issue will only end in bloodshed or the Republic, the Civilization and the society will die.
Well, yeah, our federal government would never do anything like that, would it?
No but it is supreme court majority opinion now and is persuasive on other Supreme Court decisions. I find that interesting.
