Ad for Bibi the Babysitter
I’d like to submit this Likud campaign ad as a nominee for Best Political Ad in 2015. It’s an interesting concept that treads the fine line between being lighthearted, but serious, about important issues. My first reaction was positive and I think it was clever.
What say you?

I liked it. (That said, I am not the target audience.)
Seawrter
I think it works.
I loved it.
Turns the ‘for the children’ narrative around.
Like.
Excellent. And I really liked the last line: Yes, peace, but not unconditionally.
I also like politicians who are willing to make a little fun of themselves (while making even more fun of their opponents).
Heck, I’d vote for Bibi for American president.
Great ad! Except I noticed the text came on backwards at the end, so they should fix that.
I haven’t watched it yet (low bandwidth connection isn’t conducive). But it’s also been on Drudge, and the term I’ve read is “Bibi sitter”.
I guess you do what you have to do to get votes (within limits).
Saw it and loved it.
Baby kissing? :-) Or Bibi kissing???
A lighthearted means of introducing a profoundly serious topic. Like.
Great! :-)
Loved it. Yes, the baby was in good hands. The popcorn at the end really cracked me up. Shalom.
Loved it.
Indeed I thought this was the best political ad I’d seen in at least a decade. It is certainly the funniest. The digs at his opponents are well done- everything about it is just the right tone, which was very difficult to arrive at in light of recent events. I certainly pray he wins by a very large margin, what with him and Stephen Harper being the de facto leaders of the Free World ™.
There’s also another political/current affairs in joke in the: What Bibi is watching on TV is apparently a recent Likud ad that got yanked because they illegally used child actors.
Yes, — seemingly the only two adults in any important leaderships.
Loved the ad. Best of the year? Yes.
Is the baby that spoiled little brat Obama? There’s one who definitely could use some adult supervision.
National list elections rather than districted elections have dynamics we are not used to in the US.
In Israel, one might adopt a strategy that helps a coalition partner even though it hurts your party so long as it also hurts your opposition.
For example, at least one mainstream right wing Israeli party needs to get ad hominem about the left. The “your negativity will frighten the moderates” dynamic is less relevant when they get frightened into joining your coalition partners.
It has a very Jewish sensibility. I could easily imagine the late Ed Koch doing something similar in an ad for New York. Rudy could probably do it too, but that’s the New York in him. I can’t imagine Mitt doing it successfully.
It’s such a nice balance of the serious and light-hearted. And Netanyahu seems very natural. (Imagine Hillary as the babysitter and you see what I mean.)
I love it! Can Bibi run in the US in 2016? ;)
In the Israeli context it’s pretty good. The message is clear and serious, but it’s handled with a light touch so it doesn’t seem Netanyahu takes himself too seriously.
In the Israeli context. If the US president, a Liberal Fascist busy-body–pro-baby killing, America hating, opponent of all that is natural, normal, human, and healthy–showed up at the door talking about “for the children”, I’d reach for my Smith & Wesson.
