Reihan Salam and Keith Hennessey are making sense. Hint: you can’t pin it all on W.
Hennessey’s article just highlights for me just how bad the public perception of Republicans was before the last election, and just how enamoured the world was with Obama. Twenty years of ‘profligate’ spending had angered a nation, and the solution — to choose the person most likely to continue that pattern! If I were on the outside looking in it would seem farcical. Then again, I spoke regularly with folks on the other side of the pond as they say, and they too were so enamoured with Obama they couldn’t see the plain logical argument I laid out for them (although, they did finally see it a little better when it was their own government two years later).
