Dallas Meetup Success!

So the Dallas folks got together and it was amazing. Warm and cordial interactions, thought-provoking discussion. Attendees were Jeff, Liberty Belle, Joycelyn, Mary the fifth and her brother Greg Rogers, BrentB67, my friend Laura, the elusive Jimmy Carter, and your humble organizer, Olive.

Topics included concealed carry/open carry laws in various states, the legality of company policies regarding armed employees, Ted Cruz, victories within the Tea Party movement, the state of public educa…

There’s no such thing as an unsuccessful meetup, and it sounds like you covered every base there was to be covered. Wish I’d been there.

  2. Joycelyn Spellman

Excellent summary, Olive. Thanks, again for organizing the evening.

  3. sophrosyne

Wish we could have been there! More Texas meet-ups, please!

Jimmy Carter: Was I everything I dreamed I’d be?

I tried to interject the Kardashian sisters a couple of times, but to no avail. · 52 minutes ago

FYI to the Ricochetti, Jimmy Carter is just as delightful in person as he is online. :-)

flownover: What did you use the name tags for ? Ricochet aliases or real names ?

Some of us put both our real name and our handle.

  6. BrentB67

Thanks so much Olive. Can’t wait to do it again.

  7. Indaba

It is good to be able to speak with like-minded people. Looks like fun.

  8. Liberty Belle

I was bubbling over with enthusiasm on the way home. I hoped I didn’t talk too much, as is my way, even though I am basically a shy person. I did find out on the drive home that Greg, brother of Mary the Fifth, didn’t hear a word we said, so perhaps we should find a more acoustically friendly location for our next meet-up. The conversation could have gone on all night, as far as I’m concerned. The Meet-up was a unqualified success! Thanks Olive! BTW, the pizza was awesome, as was the waitstaff and the customer  that took our picture.

Great idea with the only shots of Jimmy’s shoes!  So when is the 1st Annual Rico-Con?

I really wish I could have been there.  Looks like a wonderful time was had by all.

  11. Marythefifth

I think this was one of the few times I’d been able to talk about conservative issues with folks other than a couple of my siblings. That’s how timid I am and that needs to change.

Thanks, Olive, for the excellent roundup.

  12. Joan of Ark La Tex

Great Job Olive! Thanks for sharing the fun. How was the food? Any foodie in the mix?

  13. Joan of Ark La Tex

Olive, I was going to PM you to bring a girlfriend or 2. But you did it anyway, that is so cool!

Hmm … Cap toes, sewn synthetic souls, hardly worn, high gloss shine to practically patent leather.

My guess would be military issue dress shoes. If they’re civvies, Florsheim or Johnston and Murphy.

I must have missed the announcement. Sorry I missed the party!

Well, since you asked, I am planning to put one together in the greater Austin/Round Rock/Georgetown area in the spring. Anyone interested?

Liberty, I am so glad you made it and no, you did not talk too much. I am happy to hear about the Tea Party victories you have attained in your area, and your other experiences in politics.

I actually spoke with our waiter a little bit; his parents are El Salvadorean but he was raised in Vancouver! Interesting guy.
