And Trump Wins the Coveted Dugin Endorsement

duginThe Weekly Standard’s Robert Zubrin brings this news: “Putin’s Rasputin endorses Trump.” You may vaguely remember my fulminating impotently about Alexander Dugin here:

Russia’s become a gigantic, malign, lunatic-conspiracy-theory factory, and the ideology behind it is every bit as expansive, totalizing and destructive as the ideology behind the Soviet Union. The mistake too many make is to see modern Russia as just another authoritarian state, acting rationally in pursuit of its national interests – albeit a mischief-making one with nuclear weapons — rather than a new incarnation of the ideologically-driven Soviet colossus of yore.

This is understating the threat. Russia’s behavior is a product of an ideology, there is a method to its madness; the ideology is, I fear, as insidious as communism, fascism, or Islamism; and must be taken just as seriously. It’s not traditional Russian imperialism, although certainly it has its roots in it. It’s best described as Duginism, after its best-known theorist, Alexander Dugin …

As Zubrin noted before,

What Russia needs, says Dugin, is a “genuine, true, radically revolutionary and consistent, fascist fascism.” On the other hand, “Liberalism, is an absolute evil. . . . Only a global crusade against the U.S., the West, globalization, and their political-ideological expression, liberalism, is capable of becoming an adequate response. . . . The American empire should be destroyed.”

And voilà, Dugin’s predictable endorsement:

But Trump … He is a sensation. In fact, it is a real change from the usual display. The Republicans, as well as the Democrats, are the representatives of the US ruling elites. It is a special part of society, being quite far from the ordinary Americans. This elite considers not America, but the world, not society, but unbelievable sums of money serves not people, an abstract utopia of the world government and global financial oligarchy. The American elite is not even American. Thus, there is Donald Trump, who is tough, rough, says what he thinks, rude, emotional and, apparently, candid. The fact that he is a billionaire doesn’t matter. He is different. He is an extremely successful ordinary American. He is crude America, without gloss and the globalist elite. He is sometimes disgusting and violent, but he is what he is. It is true America.

… He is trustworthy: the black peacekeeper promised to change everything, but was unable to change anything, nothing at all, and Hilary Clinton, with a quickly aging poker face, doesn’t promise to change anything, maybe Trump will be able to get America’s natural borders back.

Maybe, that redhead rude Yankee from the saloon will get back to the problems inside the country and will leave humanity alone, which is tired of American hegemony and its destructive policy of chaos, bloody rivers and color revolutions?

Trump is a leader. Most likely, he is fake, but even if he is not fake, he has no chance of winning, as the globalist elites and financial oligarchy control practically everything in the USA.

But we want to put trust in Donald Trump.

Vote for Trump, and see what will happen.

Or maybe … don’t. That would be my advice.

So. He’s got Jean-Marie Le Pen’s endorsement, Dugin’s, and David Duke’s. He still hasn’t secured formal approval from Kim Jong-il, at least. (Would you be surprised at this point?)

Oh, and this just happened:

Can anyone remember a weirder time, politically? For sheer outright weirdness, this is record-setting.

Well, this is absolutely shocking. Shocking. A promoter of fascism who sees in Trump a kindred spirit? Who woulda thunk it?

You forgot about the highly coveted Louis Farrakhan endorsement.  Endorsed by racists in both directions.

Oh, and Trump still can’t spell (Hailey? Her name is Governor Nikki Haley).  If you are going to insult someone, at least spell their name correctly.  If Trump had won reelection with over 60% of the vote…but Governor Haley is an embarrassment.  It would be hilarious if it wasn’t so dangerous.

Sorry, Herbert, you beat me to it :)

What, this is like freak-week for Trump endorsements? Why do these people think they’re doing him a favor? It really seems more and more like an insanely clever plot to destroy and discredit absolutely every deeply-held conviction conservatives have ever advanced.

I heard Glenn Beck warning about this mad man about a year ago. Back then Dugin was talking about a future war with us, the United States.

The alt-right/fascists support their own though.

For the sake of civility it should be assumed that the vast majority of Trump supporters are decent, tolerant and patriotic human beings who are not bigoted or racist. And one is inclined to give Mr. Trump the benefit of the doubt that he may have had a senior moment and did not recognize the name “David Duke” when repeating the name back to Jake Tapper of CNN and probably wasn’t blowing a dog whistle to members of the KKK and other bigots so as not to lose any support in the primaries today, since he had taken to Twitter earlier and disavowed Duke by name and other white supremacist groups…though Rush Limbaugh has his doubts about Mr. Trump’s motives on this strange exchange. But depending on where you hang out on the Internet, some disturbing comments and images do occasionally appear…sadly:

Trump is the ultimate anti-status quo candidate. Whatever one’s distaste for the current order and many have complaints from all sides for different reasons, many whose reasons are entirely in opposition to each other, Trump is their man. He is the one who will knock over the table and toss all the cards in the air. What will emerge?

Who can say, no one can know but it will be different and for many that alone is sufficient.

It should also be noted that Trump is more than likely not a racist or a fascist. But unlike the other Republican candidates in the race he does seem to attract their support. Why would that be? And should it be quickly and easily dismissed?

I have been driving this point home as well, sometimes I feel like I’m on a feedback loop.  That doesn’t mean we don’t notice major (or minor but influential) public figures when they support someone.

When you attract enough of this kind of “support”, some reflection is in order.

Let’s see his sister would be a great choice for the Supreme Court. His wife will probably be appointed as the ambassador to the Ukraine. Animal House is on a road trip to Washington DC.

I’ll say it again. Russia is a dying country. The male life expectancy is in the 50’s. Their birthrates, while not as low as Japan or Italy, are in the dumps. They have no industries to speak of except natural resource extraction and cyber crime. The biggest worry we should have is protecting our physical infrastructure from cyber threats and making sure Soviet nukes don’t end up in the hands of Islamic terrorists when there no longer is enough males to guard them.

Not to say that Putin and Dugin aren’t terrible fascists.

As for Trump I am benign. Please read Scott Adams’ blog. Trump is not a fascist or a tyrant or anything. Trump is a Master Persuader who decided that it would be fun to be President. He has no goals beyond that. Everything he has said or promised is so much dust in the wind.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he resigns after a year in office because it wasn’t as much fun as he thought it would be.

I am not worried about a Trump presidency, so much as I am worried about a lack of a conservative one.

It’s interesting how every kind of character is coming out of the woodwork and either endorsing Trump or speaking positively of him. I lost all respect for Christie – I guess he’s looking for a job…..

But Dugan and the other thugs in the world? Look, if I had to pit Donald Trump against a creep like Dugan or Putin, if given the choice between him or Hillary Clinton..I’m going with Trump – I think he would be a force to be reckoned with if it came to that – for all his faults, I believe he is patriotic. We all know Hillary is an extension of Obama, only worse and that’s exactly what they want.

Of course Trump’s not a fascist. How could anyone ever think such a thing? Let’s see… Might it be his endorsement and praise of foreign strongmen and totalitarians like the ChiComs who “showed the power of strength” in putting down the student pro-democracy demonstrations in 1989 as compared to the USA which is “now perceived as weak”? (Who in America at the time besides Trump and a small contingent of Maoists wasn’t appalled by this)? Or maybe it was his historically inaccurate praise of Saddam Hussein as an anti-terrorist. Or his endorsement of Russian strongman Vladimir Putin as a great leader for his country. And let’s not forget his approving citation of that Italian civil libertarian Benito Mussolini that “It is better to live 1 day as a lion than live 100 years as a sheep.”

Then again, maybe it’s his hatred of even the slightest criticism. Critics are immediately denigrated as losers or failures or stupid or bimbos or worse. Trump seems oblivious to the possibility that someone may support someone else or oppose him based on good faith differences of opinion or just seeing the world differently. No, their disagreement is always either in bad faith (just like Barak Obama another with fascist tendencies), or some personal defect.

Or maybe it’s his desire to weaken free speech protections.

Or could it be his economic policies, which are similar to fascist economics – protectionism, crony capitalism and the stealing of others resources.
