The African-American Answer to George Wallace

A few days ago, an article appeared in Pravda-on-the-Hudson reporting that pollsters had told the White House that if there is not a huge African-American turnout on the first Tuesday this November, the Democrats are cooked.

In the meantime, there have been leaks from the Ferguson, Missouri grand jury investigation. Darren Wilson is said to have testified that Michael Brown attacked him in his police car and went for his gun, that he fired at him twice at that time, and that, when he emptied his gun into Brown, the young man was charging at him on the street.

The investigation undertaken by the police after the event is said to have confirmed at least some of Wilson’s claims. There is evidence that he fired twice in the car, and Brown’s blood was splashed inside the vehicle.

The autopsy is said to confirm that, when Wilson emptied his pistol into Brown, the young man may not have had his arms in the air; and it is also said that there are seven or eight African-American witnesses who confirm his story.

In short, it looks as if the grand jury is about to issue a report, exonerating Wilson, and it looks as if that is the right call. Brown was certainly not the “gentle giant” who appeared in the early newspaper reports. He was a thug used to throwing his weight around; he had just robbed a convenience store; and he was hopped up on marijuana at the time he was killed. No one with any knowledge of these events would be surprised to learn that he had attacked a police officer.

In the meantime, of course, the NAACP in Ferguson and St. Louis and the local black politicians, seconded by radicals who have traveled to St. Louis from far afield, have been hyping racial tensions in Missouri.

We could be in for riots — especially if Barack Obama and his henchman Eric Holder decide to roll the dice. Early on, they played this event for everything it was worth politically — in much the same way that they played George Zimmerman’s shooting of Trayvon Martin. I would not be surprised if, in the next few days, they roll the racial dice again. After all, Barack Obama is the African-American answer to George Wallace.

But, of course, rolling those dice could backfire. People who have been tricked by you in the past get really, really angry when you try to trick them again, and Barack Obama has pulled stunts of this sort time and again.

only correction… you don’t really get “hopped up” on marijuana.  I’d doubt that was a contributor.  The guy was obviously not what the media made of him, as you said.

And yes, just as with Zimmerman, you will absolutely see riots – or at least non-peaceful protests and significant outcry.  Facts be damned.  Earlier today, Rico posted on the member feed someone on MSNBC (interviewed by Chris Matthews) talking about how racist the republican party is.  No logic, of course, and no actual substance to the claim.  Just that we’re all racist by virtue of not voting for democrats.  Same thing.  I’m sorry for “the black community,” but you’ve only your own “leaders” to blame.  The ones I really feel sorry for are black conservatives who apparently cannot be both…

What is really shameful is the almost total unwillingness of the media to point all this out. As long as they can, they’ll ignore this cynical use of race or rationalize it.

Well, I think characterizing the media’s impulses as “almost total unwillingness”  as too generous; they are deliberate collaborators in this gag.

If Obama is the African-American George Wallace, then Al Sharpton is certainly the African-American Lester Maddox:

It’s become very clear to me recently how the race racket works for Democrats.  They present to us with a thug like Michael Brown, and tell us he’s a black Everyman.  They give us Al Sharpton, who is as crooked a man as you will ever find, and say he’s a black leader.  The black people I know are nothing like those two, but pushing them as the image of black people reinforces the idea that black people need to be managed, and that helps Democrats.  The actual policies the Democrats promote are of dubious benefit to blacks, but of clear benefit to Democrats.

Someone who works as a parole officer once told me that the problem is not the marijuana, but some of the stuff they spray on it as preservative. Evidently these sometimes include chemicals with a PCP-like effect.

So is the Saint Louis Post Dispatch a Republican rag? Somehow I doubt it. The criminal leak of the Grand Jury evidence 2 weeks before the Dem’s desperate need for black turnout is an answer to their prayers (so to speak) . The Grand Jury’s report is due in January which is a poor time for riots in Missouri and is too late to help electoraly.
What better way to engage the base than demogoguic charges of a cover-up and – riots?

I think that you are wrong about what marijuana can do. Like alcohol, it reduces inhibitions . . . on anger, among other things. Trayvon Martin was also hopped up.

In Missouri, this case splits the Democratic Party. The district attorney is a (white) Democrat. So is the police chief.

This article about ‘racist architecture,’ is where you end up if you’re the race-baiting equivalent of a hammer to which everything is a nail (h/t to Powerline for linking to this).

The best thing about the article, though, is the comments, which are often hilarious.  All is not yet lost.

Reportedly, Michael Brown was hopped up enough on the weed to trigger hallucinations.

A couple of things are worth noting. The black eyewitnesses who corroborate Darren Wilson’s testimony have not gone public for fear of retribution, and a high proportion of those who were arrested early on in connection with the demonstrations in Ferguson were from out of town. Could Organizing for America be funding the hoopla?

I find that unlikely. More probably is that he turned violent simply because he  had committed a violent crime just minutes ago and was about to get caught. If anything, he was “hopped up” on adrenaline.

The claim that he may have been subject to hallucinations is the conclusion of the coroner’s office. You are no doubt right about the adrenaline. But I repeat: like alcohol, marijuana reduces inhibitions. Trayvon Martin was also stoned.

I certainly don’t want to defend the parasitic hoards referred to as media, but one should note that the GOP is too timid to call “this cynical use of race” what it is.  If they were not so concerned with playing the role of “compassionate conservatives”and called these race-baiters what they were the media would be forced into commenting on it.  If you remember at the time of the Harvard prof incident the big O was caught on tape saying, “this is why these white cops always do” you haven’t and won’t hear any GOPer referring to this.  If a white GOPer had said anything close to this about  black every Dem would have put it on auto play.

I have read several reports that pro-palistinean groups have gained considerable influence over the “lynch mob” in Ferguson.  It has become obvious that this can no longer accurately be characterized as a demonstration.  I would not be surprise if more radical Muslim elements gravitate there in which case the Dems may really have a mess on their hands.

I feel sorry for Michael brown’s family, having lost a son.  But this whole thing was so avoidable.  Even if cops pick on blacks 24/7.  Even if some cop told you to get out of the street…let’s say the cop had no business saying that.  Even if he called you a Nigger or told you your mother was fat (which did not happen here)…or gave you the finger or called you “Shirley”.

Life can be simple if you just use a little common sense.  Don’t get aggressive with cops.  You will lose every time.

    End of story.

Well, keeping in mind that I agree with the overall substance of your post, on this issue I speak as a bit of a former pot-head, and respectfully disagree.  It may be, as with alcohol, that it causes different things in different people.  But I know a lot of people who smoke plenty, and the “anger causing reduced inhibitions” simply isn’t something that squares with my own experience.  Here, we seem to be taking correlation and assuming causation.  Brown (and Martin) both seem to have been angry people; criminals who engage in criminal behavior.  That they both smoked marijuana should not discount whatever other behaviors may have been entirely unrelated.

I think we would do well to focus on the larger cultural trend (as someone pointed to Al Sharpton, Cornel West, Oprah, Obama, et. al.) and think of things like Alcohol and Marijuana as being ancillary.  This strikes me as being somewhat similar to the left’s gun-control argument, does it not?  I think we can do better with our analysis.

I wouldn’t necessarily jump to that conclusion. The opposite possibility of someone attempting to prevent a riot, by breaking the news slowly so to speak,  seems equally likely:

By leaking the autopsy report, someone risked their career to get the truth out. One does wonder about the timing of the leak. Why now and not six or eight weeks ago? I think that the person who leaked the documents was merely trying to prepare the public for what we all know to be coming. I contend that the leak foreshadows the findings of the grand jury considering charges against Wilson to be imminent — and that no charges will be filed.

I believe the leaker was (is) trying to keep Ferguson from burning to the ground when that announcement is made.

It should be noted that Holder’s Justice Department seems rather unhappy that this report leaked:

The U.S. Department of Justice condemned the leaks Wednesday as “irresponsible and highly troubling” and said, “There seems to be an inappropriate effort to influence public opinion about this case.”

There is much to be sad about with regard to all of this, but there is also something to laugh about. The shooting of Michael Brown took place in a Democratic stronghold. Everyone involved in adjudicating this case is a Democrat, and the local party in that corner of Missouri is now involved in a civil war. The leadership of the African-American community (which may not fully have the support of that community) is out for blood. The good-old-boys who make up the  Caucasian element in the party are not exactly happy about sacrificing one of their own — especially, given the fact that the evidence exonerates him.

This is a disaster for the local Democratic Party, and it is regarded as an opportunity by the national Democratic Party. What is sad is that the ordinary folks in Ferguson — both white and black — are being made to suffer. But that is what happens when partisanship trumps justice both for the mainstream press and for the national Democratic Party.

If I remember correctly the first NYT article that broke the story on forensics evidence contained Washington in the by-line. The reporters seemed to indicate that the leaks came from federal officials that had been briefed on the case. I believe the reporters said that the information did not come from St. Louis police officers and did not come from anyone being investigated by the feds concerning civil rights violations. The DA has said that his office was not the source for the leaked information.
