Not sure the GOP had a play here. FCC is stacked 3-2 Democrat-Republican (read that 3-2 leftist-Republican), and GOP is a minority in the 111th Congress. It is heartening to see the dissection of this issue in the media and blogs in the run-up to the 112th. Rep Marsha Blackburn has FCC in the cross-hairs, expect Congressional action in the early going next year.

Agree! All time favorite in our clan is the Voices of Christmas album by the Voices of Walter Schumann, vintage 1955. We survived for years on original vinyl, then cassette tape / CD copies when the record wore out. Wonderful mix of classic, contemporary, and religious -- and every track is a sing-along. My children and grandchildren know them by heart, and especially love to take turns singing the various parts on The Christmas Tree song ... It was re-released 3 years ago, very high on the request list for old Christmas albums (http://amzn.to/fai3Ar). My children do grouse a bit about the new release when we play it at Christmas, because it's not the "real" version -- doesn't have the skips, pops, and crackles in the original vinyl LP they grew up with!
