Republicans see Democrats dissing their base and getting away with it. They think they can do the same thing. They fail to understand that the Dem base are true believers who will take a little disresepct before they will ever vote for someone they hate, or ever fail to vote if it means someone they hate will win.
The R’s base are not true believers. They have to be motivated by a candidate. If the candidate disses them they will simply stay home on election day. If that means someone they don’t favor (but do not hate) will win, so be it.
Indaba: CC, what is your opinion on how politicians should campaign on Gay Marriage? · 19 hours ago
Here’s an idea:
I believe gay marriage is wrong. Does that make you not like me? OK, I’m the same as most people. I want to be liked. But I also want to be right. If I have to be wrong to make you like me, well I guess you’re not going to like me. Sorry about that.
A LIV might not understand anything about gay marriage other than he's supposed to be in favor of it, but he will probably have more respect for someone willing to stand for something, someone comfortable enough in his own skin to care more about a principle than whether the LIVs like him, than he does for pandering Republican buffoons so desperate to be liked they look and sound like fools.
The reason this happened is because law enforcement failed to detect it and stop it before it happened. Many other such plots have been detected and prevented. Law enforcement cannot be perfect because nothing is. The evil ones only need to win once while we have to win every time and that’s not possible. A way to embrace the Good of which you speak is to discontinue the silliness of multiculturalism and political correctness that are enablers of evil and an impediment to effective law enforcement.
It’s just as well he doesn’t go. She wouldn’t mind. If she had known him she would have had no use for him except to best him in a debate and show him to be the fool that he is.
Oh, how lovely and delicious it would have been to see such a debate. It would have too easy for Baroness Thatcher. Imagine her [before she fell ill] instead of Romney in the second debate last year and how easily she would have crushed him.
The speaker was speaking against the repeal of the direct tax that had been levied to finance armament for the war against Britain. Now that the war was over there was a motion to repeal the tax. The speaker was against it and delivered a long speech on what made the new nation great and exceptional. It was the people’s choice of labor and virtue over ease and pleasure, the speaker said, and the tax was needed to continue the strength of the military force, not to finance conquest but to avoid it being imposed upon us. Thus we were “charged by providence” to assure the success of this new nation not merely for its own people but for the human race.
The motion to repeal the direct tax was defeated.
The biggest problem with amnesty is that it favors those who are in the country illegally over the millions trying to come in legally. I guess legal immigrants don’t vote heavily enough for Democrats.
Republicans will all get Darwin awards if they go along with this.
If we could eliminate water vapor there’d be no rain and the average temperature on earth would be about minus 60 Fahrenheit, which is colder than the same Celsius [they cross at −40]. This might not be such a bad thing. When everyone’s time and efforts are taken up finding food and trying to stay warm, there are no other problems.
The Left speaks in short words and phrases that convey touchy feelings without the intolerable labor of thought. They are able to corrupt the language because so many people welcome the opportunity to have a mindless slogan to express themselves. The latest is the stupid and vacuous = sign on your Facebook page. Why reason anything out, why analyze, why think at all when all you need is one keystroke and you’re a wonderful person who loves everyone and everyone loves you. Or so you think, until the take everything you have including your soul.
Randy Weivoda: The fact is, water vapor is a much more powerful greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide. It's only a matter of time before the greenies start worrying about the amount of water we're evaporating. · 43 minutes ago
The amount of water vapor that comes from these stacks in minuscule compared to the amount that occurs naturally, and humans have no control over that. Ghia is enemy of the liberals on this one.
David Carroll: If I understand the program correctly, the shotgun comes at a cost: commitment to a training program. The happy new shotgun owner gets to learn how to use the shotgun effectively and safely. · 2 hours ago
But the training program is also free. Like psychotherapy, free firearm training lacks the necessary commitment on the part of the trainee. Thus, little or no training is likely to result from the program. “Training” does not occur unless a change in knowledge, skills and attitude takes place.
Fake John Galt: I am not much for handing stuff out for free. If for no other reason than the person receiving the handout will not value the item.
Yes. If there is a complaint to be made about this, that is it. Psychiatrists and psychologists don’t treat people without payment for that very reason. If they don’t pay they won’t be committed to solving their problem.
Walsh’s modest proposal for Ashley Judd is a stunning application of Alinsky’s Rule No. 5, with a bit of Rules 4 and 6 as well. Republicans could learn from this. They won’t, of course.
I don’t understand the need homosexuals feel to call their relationships a marriage. Nobody is trying to prevent them from having whatever sort of relationship they want with a same sex partner. I believe they don’t really care about marriage, it’s just a way sticking their thumb in the eye of anyone who merely offers them tolerance. They achieved tolerance long ago, then respect, and the new goal is reverence. If the 3% succeeds in forcing a new definition of the 10,000 year old institution of marriage on the 97%, it won’t stop there.
If they succeed in the courts and legislatures it will stop there. They won’t convince the people who have rejected this every time they have been allowed to vote on it.

Re: Messenger Ballots: More Proof That Voter ID Laws are Needed
Democrats are determined to cheat their way into total and complete power over every living and dead soul. In Colorado they have a scheme to make Colorado a bluer that blue state. May as well change the name to Colofornia.
