The problem is that no one cares.

I talk to normal people (a.k.a. low-information voters) all the time. I bring up things like Benghazi, the IRS, etc. and none of them have any idea what I'm talking about.

NONE of them!

But they remember that Obama filled out an NCAA bracket, and that an couple of basketball players recently announced their sexual orientation.

If they don't care, it won't affect their vote.

The Chinese have been hacking into our infrastructure for a long time now. And this is simply the natural extension of our current foreign policy, which is to treat our adversaries (and enemies) with greater respect and deference than we do our allies.

Everything I've seen from RGIII in his brief in the spotlight has endeared me to him. He is an obviously accomplished athlete. But he consistently demonstrates a maturity beyond his years, while displaying none of the entitlement mentality that has gripped young celebrities.

For Obama, everything is an electoral opportunity. The target audience for his speech was the activist progressive community. It was a Get-Out-The-Vote speech for 2014.

Given all of the machinations that precipitated the vote, I can only draw the conclusion that the bill's defeat was the intended result ... meant to stoke anger on the left, which leads to fundraising and an easily defined adversary (the NRA) to distract voters from a jobless recovery.
