But three cheers to Delingpole for calling out Ghouls like Barbara Boxer who jump on the coffins of children as soapboxes for their green or other totalitarian agendas.

Oh come on. The title of the episode had "zombie" in it.  · 9 hours ago

And I've seen lots of posts with the word but without illustrations. Seriously, I just find the whole zombie fascination in current pop culture morbid, tasteless...just downright annoying. After "Dead Alive" no other zombie film should have been made. Jackson took it as far as it could and should go.

Jaja, jag har laest det i Dagens Nyheter. And it's amazing: Molotov cocktails are being thrown. Police are being attacked. Stones are being throw. Cars are being set on fire. Apparently no human being  or intelligent agent of any kind is doing this. A more consistent and determined use of the Passive Voice to deny ascribing responsibility I have not seen outside of grammar books.

This will only be the case if we push to make it happen. Do not depend on the establishment Reps for anything- make them act. Only if they get it through their thick skulls that they will face primary challenges if they fail to press this advantage, will they move.

Samaritan's Purse is also rendering assistance. So is Convoy of Hope and the Austin Disaster Relief Network (run out of Hill Country Bible Church here, but with participation from a huge network of churches in the greater Austin/Round Rock/Cedar Park Area of Texas).

Fair call, no. Sheer idiocy, yes. The author apparently does not even know what the word 'profiling' means in a policing context. A few years ago in California, there was a series of jewelry store robberies committed by a gang of recent Colombian immigrants. The police profiled their suspects as young men speaking Colombian Spanish and having some connection with known fences dealing in precious stones and jewelry. Similarly, there was a well-known family of criminals in downstate Illinois back in the 90s that made its business in stealing, modifying and re-selling expensive cars, so when a high-value "target" when missing downstate, guess who the police went looking for first?  Members of that family. Find me the crimes of which Tea Party members have been reasonably suspected or convicted and you'll have profiling. As reality has it, Tea Partiers have been falsely accused of everything from the Aurora, CO shooting to flying the plane into the IRS building here in Austin. In every case of alleged Tea Party involvement, the accusations so carelessly tossed about (by Slate, Mental Status Not Bloody Competent, The Nation, etc.) were baseless. Real profiling would be investigating everyone BUT Tea Partiers.

Islam will deserve to be treated as a social equal of Christianity when a group of academics can start a Mohammed Seminar- complete with the red, pink and blackball procedures-  and not receive credible death threats.  In terms of theological truth, well, no. It is not and never has been and never can be the equivalent of Christianity for the simple reason that Mohammed was not, is not and cannot be the equal of Jesus.

Crow's Nest

Devereaux: This must be important research to be funded by I am sure the Vikings were much affected by the same climate changes, allowing the glaciers to retreat and give them land upon which to live and establish their society. NO, wait! That was thousands of years before. · 2 hours ago

Yes, there was overlap between the medieval warm period and the Viking era. Having sailed through the North Atlantic on a modern vessel in our own time during the winter, I imagine even in the Viking age, the mild warming did not ameliorate the conditions terribly much and it was still an arduous sail. But, yes, I think it would have aided them in founding colonies in Canada and Greenland.  · 11 hours ago

That's almost exactly what I was going to say, Crow's Nest.

(Cont'd) and that event- being confronted by God on the point of emotionalism and charismatic/ecstatic phenomena - has shaped my faith life ever since. I am a charismatic now and was at one time in the biggest pentecostal denomination in the country (the one I had that encounter with in Germany, as it turns out...providentially enough). My wife and I are currently looking for a Catholic church that is part of the Charismatic Renewal stream in the Catholic church but it's starting to look like we'll have to move to Germany or Austria to do it.

Coming to faith for real in the first place was a logical proposition for me: Logical necessity of an uncaused first cause, the realization that man's moral corruption could not be cured by man, etc. It was all very "faith as logical proposition about reality" to me. I've joked here about being an escapee from the First Church of Jesus Christ: Vulcan, but that is not too much of an exaggeration. Distrusting emotion as a guide to spiritual life was emphasized and ecstatic experiences were denounced (e.g. "speaking in tongues is just an emotional trick").  The transformative experiences really came later. One in particular dealt with this very issue. I was among German Pentecostals in Flensburg and a bunch of them began with speaking in tongues, etc. And I started to walk out of the revival meeting. "This is a Pagan ecstasy cult with Christian veneer. I'm gone," I told one of my German friends (in German) as I stormed out. I barely got down the stairs when the Holy Spirit spoke to me and told me "I love these people, and I am not letting them be deceived here. Turn around right now." I did.

Assuming the first question is not rhetorical, I will offer my answers to both:

1. None.

2. Because they are as a group, both lazy and cowardly. They let themselves be intimidated by hordes of lefties shrieking "racism! homophobia! they hate the poor! Ryan will kill grandma! Right to chose!" like the horde of demented parrots they so closely resemble. The republicans just stand there cringing (cowardly)   and offer only one response, namely stammering,  "but, but  we're not! Really! We're just like them, honest! We just want to spend less money!"(lazy). As a lot, they make no attempt to attack the Dems where they are vulnerable and they accept the Dem's terms of engagement without even challenging them. By and large they are not stupid or uneducated people. They merely can't be bothered to put up an argument.

Many thanks for all your comments! As for the Familie von Aue, in addition to watching Austrian Pentecost celebrations online, we were at Hope Chapel in Austin this morning listening to Steve Hawthorne (Waymakers) give a great teaching on Pentecost (which should available on their website eventually) and will be at multi-church worship event tonight. Watching the video of Global Day of Prayer, South Africa, this morning, I was quite overwhelmed with the sense of "and now the Word of God is fulfilled in your presence." The nations are really becoming a house of prayer.

I just sent copies of your post to Ted Cruz and John Carter here in Texas. And I am pleased to see it's now on the main feed.

Keep after your local GOP Congressmen/Congresswomen and Senators. Forward them this column. Send copies to your local GOP governor (if you have one) and to local party officials. Keep the heat on.
