Dan, your post is more wishful thinking than honest question. That this type of boorish and lazy post crops up every few months tells volumes about the continued relevance of Sarah Palin.

Gus Marvinson

Obama is perfectly aware of, and entirely culpable in, what goes on in his administration. Don't let him pretend otherwise.

~Paules: It means Ryan is a squish.  The conservative position should be that every child deserves a mother and a father.  A child adopted by a lesbian couple will be fatherless.  A child adopted by two gay men will be motherless.  Gay adoption is not an equivalent just as gay marriage is not an equivalent.  Once again tradition loses every time conservatives concede a point.    · 15 minutes ago

I've known Ryan was a squish for years. He has a moderate record, which means he, at best, at best, has a moderate future.

Why wait around for voices or "signs" when I can open His word and read about what he wants from  me? Is God going to reveal something to me that runs contrary to the Bible? Absolutely not. Either God's word is complete or it isn't. If it is, why bother seeking additional revelation? If it isn't, why believe it is from God in the first place?

My two yard apes saw this Jason Collins story when it broke and said, almost in unison, "Gross!"

My heart swelled.

Congrats!

Luozi,

I don't recall anyone ascribing deity to Dr. Sowell. And no, he is not generally infallible, (no one is) but if you can point out where he is wrong on the subjects in which he chooses to opine, I'd be happy to read what you have to say.

I'm Sarah Palin's resident Ricochet fanboy, so I must include her and her family. After that? Not too many conservative thinkers because I already know what I think and what most of them think. I would love to talk to  Peter Egan the motojournalist, (Cycle World, Road and Track) not about bikes and cars, but about writing. Okay, and bikes and cars.

MMPadre: Might a barrel-liner solve the problem, retaining the aesthetics while making the gun safe to shoot? · 0 minutes ago

The point is that I'm not convinced there is a problem. Besides, a barrel liner would turn my 12ga into a 20ga and I already have  a 20ga.

I do know this for an absolute, empirical fact: rabbits find my antique SxS positively lethal.

skipsul: "Upon ignition, the pressure will spike as the gasses build up behind the load, with peak pressure coming just as, or just after the load begins to move down the barrel. This is where the problem of too hot or too tight of a load would blow the gun."

True. I've also read that black powder loads actually have a greater initial pressure spike than smokeless powder. I'm not the proper kind of geek, so I don't know that this is true, but I like the sound of it.

BrentB67: What do you load it with?

I think your reasoning is correct that the path of least resistance is the muzzle, but if your ammunition is anything less than perfect and the theories about the weakening of the steel over the centuries is correct the results could be catastrophic. · 3 minutes ago

I do use a light load: 2 1/2" - 7/8oz and 16.5 gr of Red Dot. Basically the same pressures as a 2 3/4" 20ga load.

I ran for city council here in Riverside, CA in 2009. Would've run again this year but a friend of mine who was Chairman of the Planning Commission wanted to run. He's not as conservative as I am, but it seemed to me that he had a better shot at winning against his primary competition, a retired police Lt. who was hand picked by the outgoing three-term windbag to continue her haplessness. I tried, vigorously, to explain to my friend that local political campaigns are illogical, unfair, and frustrating and that the only way for a conservative to run and win is to go on the offensive. He said he got it. He didn't. For this, and a host of depressing reasons, I regret not running.

FeliciaB: Nope.  Still don't want to go.  I mean, it is in the Inland Empire, isn't it?  'Nuff said. · 35 minutes ago

Growing up in Riverside, we'd have denizens of Orange County refer to us as "The Dirt People." Never would I have thought Felicia capable of comparable venom ;)

Then again, it's not like I decided to stay living there either. · 13 hours ago

Heaven knows if a decent opportunity presented itself in a red state, I'd move.
