If you make it from Barstow to anywhere near San Diego, remember my standing promise of grits.

All true - and that doesn't even get into the issue of attorney-client privilege.  No more phone calls with your attorney - face-to-face only, and you'd better do that in a recently-swept, secure room.

And it gets worse (if that's possible):  The NSA is reported to swap information with private providers (Google, the phone companies, etc.), the private providers (phone and cable companies) sell information to those who'll pay, such as the Obama campaign in the last cycle.  And the campaigns will use the information as the Obama people so successfully did last round to microtarget voters.

It's all over, Ricochetti!  Privacy is a thing of the past.  If anything is technologically feasible, people will use it.

Del Mar Dave

Like it or not (and I don't), Ricochetti, none of us has any privacy left.

And with the advance of technology, there's no putting the genie back in the bottle.

If somebody/anybody has access to new technology, they will use it.  For good or for ill.

Period.

Revel in the time spent with family.  Nothing's more important.

And they told me that if I voted for Romney, we'd be subjected to invasive surveillance in the name of national security.

Help my wife with the marketing of her cooking school in Tuscany and planning weddings there for American expats - and get my license to teach flying in Italy.

Once again, Dave, you have gone straight to the heart of the issue in gorgeous, eloquent prose.  Thank you.

The voting population's memory is short, viz. Mark Sanford's win and Anthony Weiner's eternal hope - just to mention the two most recent examples.  The Dems will win because of more desire for power, better communications skills and willingness to do/say anything to win.

I hope I'm wrong.

Disclaimer: The advice offered in this column is intended for informational and entertainment purposes only...

I hope that is a joke.

In my business, I DO have to include a disclaimer in all of my e-mail signature blocks, on my buinsess card, plus any public presentations, posts on my LinkedIn account and any that mention business on my Facebook account (which is one reason I seldom post to them).

PITA regulators.

It looks as if the technology is classically simple and similar to that used in VASI (Visual Approach Slope Indicator) runway approach lights.

Even if (when) child predator/aggressors learn of the system, it will certainly put a crimp in their activities.

Brilliant.

The climate is always in the process of changing.  The data are unclear to me where we are in the current cycle.

To date, I have seen no evidence that humans make any measurable effect.

~Paules: My local Brooks Brothers outlet has two kinds of employees.  Either 60 year old, very dignified, former valets with a British accent, or young, gay, American hipsters.  So who do you think this jacket is designed to appeal to?        ยท 7 hours ago

What a hoot!  You are spot-on, Paules!  On my next trip, let's have a beer instead of coffee.

Meantime...I'll take a J. Press blazer, thank you very much.

Just keep those quiet teaching moments coming.  You're doing exactly the right thing in not trying to bludgeon him over to the right.

But be relaxed enough to accept the fact that some kids - we hope not yours! - are just born lefties.  I know, for all 3 of my kids and 1 of my wife's 2 turned out that way.  <sigh>

Romney is Romney -  no reason he could (even if he wanted to) change his worldview or his basic approaches to life.

A very accomplished executive, a truly decent man - and a perfectly horrible political candidate for that race and time.

He rose to the level of his incompetence.

Majestyk

Jon Caldara's first law of politics is: There's nothing that Republicans can't screw up.

I don't trust them to be able to accurately thread the needle message-wise when approaching issues like this, so the solution should be a narrowly tailored message about which people on the Center-right can pretty much universally agree upon: Limited Government, individual responsibility, Lower Taxes, School reform/choice and national defense.

No 59-point plans with nods to every boutique belief system possible on the right.

Majestyk, you are right on target.  More discussion, maybe, when I return to Colorado in April.

We will need to adopt the U.S. Metric Association's century-long plan and patience if we are ever to begin taking the country back from the Progressives.  It took them ~100 years to drag us to where we've now arrived.
