I just wonder what this article would've sounded like if it were written four years ago:

News is being made — and covered — literally every minute of the day across the world and, as president, Bush is forced to read and react to virtually all of it. (One advantage for Senator Barack Obama in the presidential election: As a challenger candidate, he can pick and choose where he sounds off.)

Layer over the constant stream of news with the fact that Twitter, blogs and cable television turn every slip of the tongue, misstatements or gaffe into a mountain — “you're doing a heck of a job, Brownie” being a prime, recent example — and it’s clear that the idea that the president can drive the hourly, daily or weekly message of his choosing feels outdated.

Sounds plausible, right? [giggle]

PCH is my favorite too.

There was a recent review somewhere that said something to the effect of, "this album is better than it has any right to be."

I thought the title track was a little schmaltzy and strained, but it's growing on me more and more. If this happens to be their final album, it's excellent closure.

And yes, I like "Kokomo" too.  And even a few tracks from "Summer in Paradise." Sue me.

If only there were some kind of natural, renewable, biodegradable, recyclable material out there we could use for bags.

Oh well, just a dream I guess. [looks longingly out window, stares at trees...]

So in other words, Sharif don't like it.

For the first time under the House rules, all bills will be required to be placed online.

I relish the fact that after four years of Pelosi's "most ethical Congress ever," and two years after the start of Obama's "transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency," it took a Republican-led House to actually deliver.

I just can't help but wonder if the phrase "every last jot and tittle" is in violation of the Ricochet Code of Conduct or not.

Not to get all religiousy (which is a stretch for me anyway), my favorite is currently "The Nativity Story" from 2006.  It got a little play in theaters, but wasn't very successful.  But it's still an incredible telling of the Christmas story, being as true to to story and times as can be.  Last year I caught it on TNT-HD.

That said, the other "Christmas Story" is still a close second. :)

My favorite part of this story is what showed up when I read the story: http://atomicmarshmallow.com/ricochet.jpg

As someone who grew up watching (hours and hours and hours) of PBS, I'd hate to see Public Broadcasting go. However, the fundmental question is not one of programming quality or where else this programming can be accessed. The question is: should it be a duty of government to subsidize TV and radio?

My answer would be no.
