Kind words for the uber-liberal McGovern??.
Yes.. of course.. but ONLY because of his truly incredible war record.
I lost a cousin doing just exactly what McGovern was doing.. so I'm well aware of the dangers he faced.
a great man.. but incredibly misguided as to politics.
I subscribe to NEW YORK.. not the New Yorker.. God forbid
It's another left-wing rag but it keeps me up-to-date on goings-on in my old home town.
One of O'Reilly's favorite words is "bloviating".. he considers himself a wordsmith. He is a champion bloviator
That being said.. I watch him every weekday.. he IS entertaining.
Although my father was an FDR Democrat... he despised unions.. and gave me an excellent education on the subject.
Since the liberal left is the bastion of union influence.. I quite naturally gravitated toward the group that saw just how evil all unions are.
Later exposure to the military officer class which is mostly conservative sealed my political inclinations.
Anyone with even the slightest cavil about the film "Master and Commander" can only be described as insufferable.
As an old sea dog.. I've seen it several times.. and its authenticity is truly staggering.. of course without Russell Crowe it would suffer .
As for metric I never thought much about til I wedded this "foreign" lady half a century ago.. and then spent a lifetime trying to explain why our "English" system was so incomprehensible.
When I first started college a very wise instructor told me that you could consider well-educated if you could readily quote or recall quotes from BOTH the BIBLE and Shakespeare.
I've always liked.. "How sharper than a serpent's tooth.. is a thankless child"
It was 1968.. I was in LA with my son scouting out USC.. which was his desire along with most of his friends in their upscale private school here in Hawaii
The tuition figures shocked me.. but I clinched the deal by driving him through "the neighborhood" around USC.
The REV. Jessee Jackson famously opined on this subject many years ago.. Look it up.
My daughter has just introduced me to a new author.. Jeffery Deaver.. who writes in the cop genre.. with a twist.. his hero cop is a paraplegic.
set in New york city. this was "Cold Moon"
Of course, anyone who hasn't tried one of John Sandford's "Nigel Davenport" series should do so.
It is now going on 53 years for me and my "Nancy".
I cannot imagine what life would be like without her.
God Bless the memory of Ronald Reagan and his Nancy.
I've been an Anglophile ALL my life starting in early WWII. when I could see that the only thing standing between us and the Nazis.. were the Brits.
Sp you could imagine my surprise when,.. thrown in with a whole gaggle of Brits in my overseas assignment in the Iranian desert.. that most of then were VERY bigoted.. not against Yanks of course.. but just about anyone with "a brown skin"
There is little doubt in my mind that WHOMSOEVER is nominated for Numero Uno.. his choice for VP will undoubtedly be Marco Rubio
When I first read Cameron's fawning remarks about his "date"with Obama.. I HONESTLY thought it was some sort of weird parody.
This is for real?

Re: Paging Prager: The Classics
You could never go wrong by starting with VIVALDI!
"The Four Seasons.. I Quattro Stagione"
Even better... his Concerto for Two Mandolins
All .. of course.. at YOUTUBE
