Never complain, never explain but, here I will make an exception: I spotted this American crow enjoying Yosemite Falls at its springtime fullest from his very own bench in May '10, and I took his picture without his permission.

Do nothing, until a criminal act is committed using the printed gun. Then prosecute and incarcerate.

The wet kind.

Shameful. Petty and shameful.

Who's Dana Perino, anyway? I don't watch television so I've never seen her. I don't remember her from the Bush days. All I know is the GOP can't buy a national election and will probably be in the wilderness for decades to come because they're afraid to defend conservatism.

I'll never vote for a democrat, but I have no confidence in the republican establishment. No compact florescent bulb left behind, and all that.

I watched the video of the congresswoman making this incredibly misinformed statement. My faith in the good sense of the American people is always shaken when I behold the seemingly endless parade of politicians of mediocre intellect that are voted into office to make our decisions for us.

I recently read David Stockman's latest philippic regarding the hopeless state of our union -- agreed with some points, disagreed with others. But what I admit intrigued me most was his idea that all politicians should be limited to a single six-year term, with public financing of campaigns, a short 8-week campaign season, a repeal of the Citizens United decision and a lifetime ban on lobbying.

If we could limit these bozos to a single term then send them off to do something else with their time, I might even go in for public financed campaigns. Don't think I'd go for the Citizens United repeal.

I really hope I live to see the whole US public education system dismantled, not one stone left upon another.

When Mickey speaks of a "visa control system," what does that mean? Would it mean that a foreign national can only be in the country legally with an official visa, that can perhaps be renewed, and what would the penalty be for violation? Deportation?

Would the visa have a definite expiration (and /or renewal) date, and would an enforcement regime be swift and certain, and what would the penalty be? Would a warrant be issued and followed up on for an expiration?

How about deportation for criminal behavior? And can we end  "chain migration" or at least severely limit it (to hardship cases, maybe)?

What about a moratorium on receiving public benefits until the emigrant has put in some time contributing, through taxes, to the treasury? I include free public education, housing, and health care in that. Let the emigrant pay their own way, or prevail upon private charity. Cold, I know.

Our borders are overrun because (among other reasons) the toothless enforcement of our sovereignty laws are treated like a joke and everybody, immigrants and law enforcement knows it. If these people are relieved from obeying our laws, what laws am I free to pick and choose to obey?

"Rerouted rivers?" California built some levees in the bay delta in the 19th century to create farmland -- there's not a chance in a million that could ever happen today -- the state also built a number of magnificent dams in the last century that the pre-columbian purists are thirsting to demolish now.  And, has Egan ever heard of the Salton Sea? That's one rerouted river, all right.

"The train moving at the speed of Superman?" From Fresno to Madera, and not a foot of track laid (but billions spent). This Egan fellow must be on drugs.

Taxing the rich? Hell, they tax everybody, with nothing to show for it. And the Latino majority -- undercutting wages and displacing low-skilled citizens while soaking up social services and creating a bifurcated  culture and crime, crime, crime: The Nortenos, Surenos, Mara Salvatruca, Mexican Mafia, etc. Sunbaked barbarians, all right.

Top it off with an entitled governing class that awards itself hideously lavish salaries and pensions and there you have it -- a once-great state poised for a new dark age.

The guy's right out of the Wooden Indian School of Acting.

Finger on the trigger, muzzle pointed right where one of those kids can run in front of it while our good ol' boy talks sense to them of us who don't know nuthin' 'bout guns.

When you're hunting in California, you can't even have a loaded firearm touch your vehicle. I'm pretty sure this good ol' feller here would be on his way to having his hunting privileges revoked if a Fish & Game (excuse me, now Fish and Wildlife) warden came across him in that pose.

They're building a new 9-or-10 story hospital across the street from me and none of the ironworkers I've seen have bows in their hair. I'll keep checking.

All I can say is I wish Cruz were my senator instead of Feinstein.

I live near a big county hospital. Last Dec., an inmate was being transported from the county lockup and managed to break free when the deputy opened the wagon doors. The Sheriff's dept. looked around for him for an hour or so, and couldn't find him, so called in the city cops for assistance. The cops showed up full-force, blocking my street, and you should have seen all the sweet military gear they had. Big semi (or fully auto?) automatic rifles, 12 gauge pump shotguns, pistols, body armor, armored cars, and a battalions' worth of boys in blue. They could have mown down every citizen for blocks around, if they were of mind to, and nobody would have been able to stop them. A truly awesome display of military force.
Thanks to Federal money, local police departments around the country are able to arm-up more and more in military style.
Now they will take your guns as a "sensible" solution to crime and violence. Sensible for whom? For the free citizen seeking to defend himself against assault from crime and tyranny? Sensible for tyrants only.
Oh, and, the escaped county inmate got clean away.

DocJay: Right on Kervinlee. There are a lot of energized people right now. It's not just the issue at hand or Brennan's inevitable confirmation. The fact that someone is standing up to these thugs rather than business as usual is a beautiful thing. · 1 hour ago

Thanks, Doc. Coming from you, that's high praise indeed.

Concretevol: Judging from the current thread about the filibuster, folks are just happy to find a US Senator who will stand up to the administration on anything at all.  Brennon's nomination is just an opportunity,  not the issue.   · 2 hours ago

After mulling this all day, Concretevol, this is just about where I come down.  Rand Paul is standing up to the president on behalf of individual liberty.  There may be fine-grained arguments suggesting his stand on Brennan is half-wrong--maybe even more than half wrong.  But you know what?  Good for Rand Paul all the same. · 2 hours ago

Peter, with with all due respect, gladly paid -- "Let's have a new first party; a Republican party, raising a banner of bold colors -- no pale pastels. A banner instantly recognizable standing for certain values which will not be compromised."

Whoever Rand Paul is and whatever he is doing here, he seems to have learned that lesson very, very well. Would that more of his fellow Republicans, now especially, take this same lesson to heart.

Dave Roy: I don't think this is scare-mongering at all. It's not that we think that Obama is planning on implementing a drone program where he kills somebody who "may" be plotting against the US without any sort of due process.

The issue is that Obama won't say that he doesn't have the power to do it. This smacks of total ignorance of the Constitution and should be highlights as much as possible.

Sure, I doubt Obama would ever do send a drone out like this. But once you get people who won't say that it's impossible, who knows what the next person will be like? · 1 hour ago

Exactly so. I'm with Paul on this, hoping he can draw Obama and or Holder out in the open and say, one way or the other. I couldn't care less about Brennan.

And, it's gratifying to see someone who cares about liberty and rights grabbing a stick and stirring up the cesspool out there.
