Dry Means Dry comes off as a whiny nebbish. Order a martini and shut up.

"What have I done?"

I eagerly await the day Hasan is brought before the executioner and unceremoniously switched off. I am confident, however, that I will never see that day.  I also await the day that the numbskull bureaucrat who decided to label Hasan's atrocity "workplace violence" will be, in the words of Ambrose Bierce, "whipped naked with scorpions through the world." I will never see that day, either. We have decided to commit suicide rather than confront the aggressors before us.

I'd pull the trigger on the little pansy myself.

Nero fiddles; Rome burns.

Never complain, never explain but, here I will make an exception: I spotted this American crow enjoying Yosemite Falls at its springtime fullest from his very own bench in May '10, and I took his picture without his permission.

Do nothing, until a criminal act is committed using the printed gun. Then prosecute and incarcerate.

The wet kind.

Shameful. Petty and shameful.

Who's Dana Perino, anyway? I don't watch television so I've never seen her. I don't remember her from the Bush days. All I know is the GOP can't buy a national election and will probably be in the wilderness for decades to come because they're afraid to defend conservatism.

I'll never vote for a democrat, but I have no confidence in the republican establishment. No compact florescent bulb left behind, and all that.

I watched the video of the congresswoman making this incredibly misinformed statement. My faith in the good sense of the American people is always shaken when I behold the seemingly endless parade of politicians of mediocre intellect that are voted into office to make our decisions for us.

I recently read David Stockman's latest philippic regarding the hopeless state of our union -- agreed with some points, disagreed with others. But what I admit intrigued me most was his idea that all politicians should be limited to a single six-year term, with public financing of campaigns, a short 8-week campaign season, a repeal of the Citizens United decision and a lifetime ban on lobbying.

If we could limit these bozos to a single term then send them off to do something else with their time, I might even go in for public financed campaigns. Don't think I'd go for the Citizens United repeal.

I really hope I live to see the whole US public education system dismantled, not one stone left upon another.

When Mickey speaks of a "visa control system," what does that mean? Would it mean that a foreign national can only be in the country legally with an official visa, that can perhaps be renewed, and what would the penalty be for violation? Deportation?

Would the visa have a definite expiration (and /or renewal) date, and would an enforcement regime be swift and certain, and what would the penalty be? Would a warrant be issued and followed up on for an expiration?

How about deportation for criminal behavior? And can we end  "chain migration" or at least severely limit it (to hardship cases, maybe)?

What about a moratorium on receiving public benefits until the emigrant has put in some time contributing, through taxes, to the treasury? I include free public education, housing, and health care in that. Let the emigrant pay their own way, or prevail upon private charity. Cold, I know.

Our borders are overrun because (among other reasons) the toothless enforcement of our sovereignty laws are treated like a joke and everybody, immigrants and law enforcement knows it. If these people are relieved from obeying our laws, what laws am I free to pick and choose to obey?

"Rerouted rivers?" California built some levees in the bay delta in the 19th century to create farmland -- there's not a chance in a million that could ever happen today -- the state also built a number of magnificent dams in the last century that the pre-columbian purists are thirsting to demolish now.  And, has Egan ever heard of the Salton Sea? That's one rerouted river, all right.

"The train moving at the speed of Superman?" From Fresno to Madera, and not a foot of track laid (but billions spent). This Egan fellow must be on drugs.

Taxing the rich? Hell, they tax everybody, with nothing to show for it. And the Latino majority -- undercutting wages and displacing low-skilled citizens while soaking up social services and creating a bifurcated  culture and crime, crime, crime: The Nortenos, Surenos, Mara Salvatruca, Mexican Mafia, etc. Sunbaked barbarians, all right.

Top it off with an entitled governing class that awards itself hideously lavish salaries and pensions and there you have it -- a once-great state poised for a new dark age.
