DrewInWisconsin: Where was the President on the night of the attack? · 23 minutes ago

The $64,000 question.  We know he was in the White House preparing for a Las Vegas fund raiser.  It seems as though he was simply not interested in the Benghazi attack and thought that someone else would take care of it.  Why Hillary and Leon were not pounding on his door demanding his attention is just one of hundreds of questions remaining unanswered.

WI Con:  Would you know if a President's order (affirmative or negative) is assigned a unique number or identifier?

This is not the same as an Executive Order or a Presidential Finding.  It is simply the exercise of the command prerogative available to the prsident as commander in chief and duly transmitted to the appropriate military command in writing.  If given, a record would be available.

I can only surmise that no such order was given, thus no action was possible.  I have no idea what he means when he says "I gave the order to do what needed to be done".  It was his responsibility to specify exactly what it was that needed to be done.  No one else had the authority to do anything militarily.

Our 10 year old minpin is named Margaret Thatcher.   Thus I was predisposed when quite by accident while surfing the web I ran across peter Robinson's interview with Claire about her book on NR's Uncommon Knowledge.  It is an outstanding interview as only Peter can do and included advice to visit Ricochet.  Followed his advice, read her book (also outstanding), and here I am.

Missed the last one for unplanned travel.  Set a date.  If I am in town I will look forward to being there.

Where are the citizenship classes conducted?  What is the curriculum? What course material is used?  Who are the students?  Many many questions.  More information please.  What a great idea.

Severely Ltd.: Clarify the Conservative message and reduce it to essentials so that it can be easily understood and disseminated.

Just right.  We do that here.  As Dr. Rahe says, "First Principles".  As the bible says, "Go forth and Multiply".

We should gather here and then spread the thoughts and the ideas we discuss on Ricochet to all the organizations, blogs, and people we know.  Report back on what you do, the successes you have, and what you experience.    · 15 minutes ago

If you cruise Tea Party websites, you'll see a common theme:

1.  Fiscal responsibility

2.  Limited government

3.  Personal liberty

4.  Capitalism

5.  The Rule of Law

You see, we have a perfectly good ideological platform.  The problem is that too many Americans have forgotten what it means.  It's nearly impossible to change a mind that has been indoctrinated by left wing subversion.  I'm not on a mission to convert the heathen.  I want to provide a tangible support system for those that already understand the message.    · 7 hours ago

But that's preaching to the choir.  30% committed left, 30% right. 40% reachable?!!

I like the sound of that.

Last minute change.  Sudden trip to Savannah.  Sorry to miss the meetup.
Don't forget the camera, Mollie.  Be sure to take pictures.

I'll be there.  Looking forward to it with enthusiasm.

The U.S. House of Lords, otherwise known as the Senate, has placed its bet on the press and the public to assure re-election.  Rubio and Paul have placed their bet on the Tea Party with a view toward  future nomination.

Long odds at this point.  The Tea Party image has been viciously assaulted by the press and elitists in both parties.  These have been aided by the more strident and radical within the Tea Party magnified and distorted by the MSM in continuing efforts to discredit.  The Tea Party Movement has a lot of work to do to gain broader acceptance in this climate.   Long odds indeed.

Who knows what the House will do?   Unfortunately my crystal ball is broken and in the shop with little hope of repair.

And by the way, Happy New Year.

M1919A4: Buy a couple of Remington or Mossberg "defender" type (short barrel,  long magazine tube) 12 gauge shotguns for the house

My father in law called them kachunka guns.  He believed an intruder hearing the kachunka sound of chambering a round in a pump action shotgun most likely would eliminate the need for ammunition.

Buy while you can.  The push for gun-control is becoming more strident and less rational than at any time I can remember.  The demand for guns is in direct proportion to the demand for restrictions.

I keep all of my firearms in a gun-safe because my home is in an area making it unlikely to be violated and my family unlikely to be threatened.  They will stay in the safe except for regular use at the range or until there is evidence that they might be needed.

I also have an apartment near DC.  There I keep a semi automatic pistol in my nightstand with a chambered round.  Time is of the essence and location is everything.

Mollie Hemingway, Ed.:  they published a detailed map showing which people own which type of guns registered to which addresses in Westchester County.

I can think of no better argument against registration.

I hate to be contrarian on Christmas eve, but I think it was exactly the right move and with the incredible response it looks like it worked.

So, agree or not, merry Christmas to all and to Ricochet a happy and prosperous new year.

First of all, you are certainly not crazy.  Secondly, you are not in the minority.  6 to 8,000 new NRA members a day (I read in a newspaper and can't verify the accuracy) and every gun outlet sold out with guns and clips on backorder status (I can personally verify that) indicates  you are certainly not alone.

Right remains different from wrong and 2 + 2 still equals 4.  Some just don't see it that way and many of those call themselves journalists.
