First, thank you for bringing me up to speed as I was unaware that "document dump" had been formally defined.

Second, I have no interest in seeing Peter in a 'costume'.  Peter appears to me to be one of the few people left in Western Civilization that still has a surplus of dignity.  Let's leave it that way.

Third, I have no idea about which scandal.   However, a vision of a very large quantity of very heavy documents falling out of nowhere directly on Eric Holder has filled me with joy.

Perhaps EJHill could do a photo shop.  I would like that.

What is strange is that Benedict a very intellectual Pope tried to dialogue with islam.  He and we found out this wasn't possible.  Francis didn't speak but acted by canonizing the Otranto martyrs.  I think Francis's act will have a much larger effect and for a long time.

The quote from Goebbels is absolutely fascinating.  When evil is that self conscious it becomes self incriminating.   I think there is also a Hitler quote which "accuses" the Jews of being responsible for morality and that is why they must be destroyed.

However, sometimes the deep truth or deep context as I like to call it manages to surface past the propaganda.  Here is an example of a very deep historical contextual truth that is relevant to realizing the absurdity of the Obama narrative.

I could discuss individual psychology, the ideology and origin of eugenics or even abstract all the way to philosophical roots.  What good would it do.  The Gosnell clinic broke morality and the law on so many levels at once that the mind bends. 

If I were to guess, and that's all that I'd be doing, it is that absolute power corrupts absolutely.  The assumptions that have driven policy from the left, Sanger through the entire 20th century, have run their course.  They have had absolute power and it has corrupted them absolutely. 

Maybe finally we will get some sort of serious discourse in this country that doesn't start from the assumption that ethics, either religious or secular, is the problem but rather is the solution.

I regret to be a person who appears to spread bad news but I must comment here.   Has it occurred to anyone how unlikely it is that Gosnell's clinic was or is an isolated incident.

One clinic in a metropolitan area becomes designated as the "hard case" clinic.   All of the other clinics are in collegial connection.  They soon realize the easy way to handle the hard cases.  Just refer them to Dr. X.  He'll do the job.

What if there are 20 or 30 other such clinics in operation around the country?  Planned Parenthood was very ready to throw Gosnell away as long as it was about him alone.  The media was forced to open just one eye and look briefly.  Now they are hoping to close both eyes shut again.

I don't think we need a hanging judge or a theologian for this.  We need Jack Dunphy LAPD and some serious leg work.  Just the facts ma'am.

I took a course in the Formal Theory of Grammar when I was in college.  The book of course was Chomsky's.  I can tell you that nothing he says or does has anything to do with those ideas for which he won renown.

If I ignore the fact that it is him speaking, all that I hear is a vicious little Marxist-Leninist apologist.  Nothing has changed over the years.  Somehow the United States of America is responsible for all the evil in the World.

He never sees his own cold soulless analysis as part of the problem.  We know that it not just part of the problem but the problem itself.  He is not brilliant at all.   His ideas are banal.  He is merely extremely facile.

God protect us from the facile who have no soul.

I found Mr. Hittinger's talk very moving.  His description of the Benedictine Monastic order after the fall of Rome totally evocative of Judaism in it's response to the diaspora.   As the Temple Nation is crushed out of existence the Jews find a new way of maintaining the faith.  It may not look much like the spectacular Jerusalem Temple service with the Kohen Gadol and the Golden Alter reduced to the Shabbos Table in a private home but the new way is ultimately stronger.  I hope Mr. Hittinger is listened to he seems very wise.

This little essay of yours is something which every American high school and college student should read.  This challenges the whole 2oth century liberal myth at its very root.   You must ask yourself from where do morals or anything that remotely looks like morals derive.

They do not derive from materialist reductionist fads.  The words of the Declaration endure.  It is Wilsonian Democracy that deserves be abandoned as an intellectual fraud.

I agree with Mr. Eagar.  Woodrow Wilson is a man who talked about Right in it's highest form that of a League of Nations.  Meanwhile he was a fervent believer in Eugenics.   The two ideas are so repellent to each other that it is hard to imagine them in the same mind.

I doubt that Abe Lincoln would have found much common ground with Woodrow Wilson.   And Wilson, snob that he was, would have considered Lincoln crude.

I am glad you have bought Mr. Calhoun to our attention in an objective and adult way.   We are living at a time when the profession of History has been invaded by infantile idealogues.   They are inflated by trivial deconstructionist pseudo-philosophers.   They counterfeit pseudo-moral positions that have no basis in objective analysis.

It is doubtful that Steven Spielberg and Tony Kushner, if alive in 1860 and 1864, would have even voted for much less openly supported Abraham Lincoln.  Their obsessive pacifism would have led them to sell out the Northern cause long before it could have produced the end of Slavery.

I would add, with great disgust, that if they had been alive in the 1930s they would have been taken in by Hitler's posturing and Chamberlain's appeasement.

Unfortunately,  Kushner and Spielberg will be getting a royalty check every Lincoln's birthday.   Speilberg has been getting his royalty check from "Schindler's List" and tomorrow is "Yom HaShoah" Holocaust Rememberance day in Israel.   Excuse me if I'm nauseated.

Mr. Calhoun with his flaws (I can remember being very critical of him in my high school history class) doesn't look so bad.
