There is a reason politicians and generals and CEO's don't answer hypotheticals and this comment shows us why. Someone can make you look absurd. But the absurdity is in the premise. If your aunt had balls she'd be your uncle. If the Republican Party can't get the job done, and in this scenario it is even more obvious than it already is with the last two elections, someone else has to be given the task. Elections aren't wars, they are battles and sometimes you have to live to fight another day with another general. |
Again, I don't disagree with you. But is my question really an absurd question? Many in the Democrat party consider Obama a moderate. And, the population of this country is increasingly Hispanic. Look at who they elect in Central America -- socialist madmen. SO, my question could be a reality sooner than you think. A socialist madman vs. someone like Christie (squishy Repub moderate). And you will stay home. I got it.
If those are my choices I stay home in my bunker or move to Texas or Idaho and take up arms. Voting won't be on the table. |
Okay, thanks for finally answering my question. Under no circumstances will you vote for a Rhino. Not even if the Dems nominate a complete socialist madman. Fascinating. Absurd, but fascinating.
At the very least I'll say this to those of you who are conservatives who at this point are already aclimatizing yourselves to a Christie in 2016, I say shame on you. · 32 minutes ago Edited 32 minutes ago |
I am not hoping for Christie. I'd much prefer Rand Paul. I am simply pointing out the absurdity of people who say they will stay home if the choice is a socialist lunatic or Christie.
Vladmir Lenin II vs. Christie and you would stay home?
Adolph Hitler II vs. Christie and you would stay home?
C'mon.
I have a more nuanced position than trying to teach people a lesson and I humbly ask you to read my previous comments if you are truly interested in understanding. · 0 minutes ago |
I did read your comments. And I don't disagree with you. I am merely pointing out the absurdity of people who say they will stay home if the choice is a Rhino or a socialist madman. That is completely absurd.
rico, Oh, you might not be familiar with the language many Statist squishes use when they comment. You see, anyone who isn't for whomever the sacred GOP nominates regardless of his ideology - whether he's for or against gun control whether or not he wants to shrink government or if he likes to appoint and help Democrats, or if he wants to trash other Republicans who are more libertarian or conservative (depending) than they, is a 'purist'. Anyone against government excess or who whines about freedom is a libertarian.· 2 minutes ago |
You guys continually avoid my question.
Just to let you know. I don't like Christie. I probably only agree with him on 30% of the issues (and I am being generous). BUT, if my choice is a squishy Rhino like Christie, or an unhinged lunactic socialist, I will vote for Christie. Anyone who says that they will stay home in that scenario, yes, they are, a Purist.
By the way, I am not, nor have I ever been, a member of the Republican party. Sheesh.
You're asking me? You addressed your question to "libertarian purists." I'm not a libertarian purist. I've stated my position very clearly, but I'd love to hear your retort to my position, so go ahead. · 8 minutes ago |
Yes, I am asking you. You never answered my question.
| Franco: Keith, Obama is Hugo Chavez II. We got Hugo Chavez II because of GOP strategies of serially running candidates who appealed to everyone and no one, and only got votes from scared Republicans. |
Obama is bad. Very bad. But I don't think he is quite at the level of a Hugo Chavez. But, at some point the Dems WILL nominate someone who is (or worse). So, if the Repubs nominate a squishy Rhino to go up against a stark-raving madman, you will stay home. That will teach us! Good for you.
How about this: Vladmir Lenin Jr. vs. Chris Christie. And the platform of Vladmir Lenin Jr. is to imprison people with the tag name Franco. Do you stay home?
The mistake, in my view, of the "Christie-tolerant" crowd is adoption of the traditional paradigm of "voting for the better candidate." This results in GOP candidates who aim to be just "a little better" than the Dem. Thinking small is no way to break out of the downward Progressive spiral into which this country has been swept. · 14 minutes ago |
You didn't answer my question. Hugo Chavez II vs. Christie. Do you stay home?
To all of you libertarian purists who said you will stay home rather than vote for a "statist" Republican like Christie --
What if the ballot was Hugo Chavez vs Christie. I realize Chavez is dead, but you get my point. What if the Dems nominated an absolute outright socialist madman (don't deny that it could happen). Will you still stay home?
If my choice is Hillary or Christie, I would crawl naked over broken glass, swim through a pool of drain cleaner, scale a wall that is engulfed in flames, slide on my butt across a river of hot lava, and run through a forest filled with giant testicle-eating mice in order to vote for Christie.
Driverless cars? Lame. Why would you need to go anywhere in the future? The world will come to you. Need a gadget? Just print one using your personal 3D printer. Need to go visit a tourist site? Just do so using your virtual reality chamber. Need to go to work? No need. With another 30 years of liberal control, there won't be any.
Hey, who invited Rain Man to the podcast? Who was that guy? -- 23% of GDP is the BEST we can hope for? I almost drove off the road when I heard that. If that is truly the case, then why bother vote or be involved on the conservative side at all? Lets just give up and turn on the printing presses. Sheesh
Lets not get too excited. A majority of Americans also voted Obama into office for a second term. I don't think we should hang our hat on what a majority of the masses want. If we do, we're doomed.
This is where gay marriage is taking us. There is no difference between men and women. Two men raising kids is exactly the same as a man and a woman. Read the LGBT activist's own writings. That is what they say. Yes it is stupid, but they have A LOT of political power behind them. And we have an increasingly stupid population. Bad mix.
Republicans clearly overplayed their hand in 2010. We are paying for it now. It's official. MN is an ultra-liberal state. The marriage deal finally etches it in stone.
Next up is forced unionization of day care, huge green energy mandates, $2 billion in tax increases, an ultra-high minimum wage, early childhood education (costly playgrounds for 3 year olds), welfare up the wazooo....I can't take it no more!!!

Do you really think that if a Lenin or a Chavez were to somehow win the Democrat nomination Republicans would select as their nominee ...
...(wait for it)…
Chris Christie?!
Yes I do. See 2012. Obama was the Democrat nominee. The Repubs nominated Romney to pander to the middle (thanks guys). Obama won easily.
