All I could think of was that "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree." Neither gave much thought to the repercussions of their actions.
That said, one is a teenager and the other is an adult/parent. Further, the teenager's poorly thought out actions probably only took minutes... little time to have second thoughts. On the other hand, dad went through a lengthy process of setting up the video equipment, conferring with his wife, fetching the computer and gun (unless he "packs"), downloading the video, ...you get the idea: There were numerous times when he might have thought, "hmmm, this was a fun thought, but..."
I can only assume that the message the 16 year old heard was "it's time to move out."
I don't see why a conservative favors any level of government involvement in marriage. Let's be consistant and reduce the role government plays in our lives... even when we disagree with the choices some might make with that liberty.
Did McKean ask West to review the replay because he believed the hit was a homerun in the absence of spectator interference?
The ball was VERY close to the top of the fence. A reasonable umpire would watch the replay and then use whatever he learned to adjust for what would have likely happened in the absence of spectator interference. It is most likely the outfielder would have caught the ball. I think West got this call right. And, on the original question, I believe Selig will be Scalia-like in making that decision.
But, after all this has been said, I'd prefer we do away with replays in all sports.
