There is no threat to religious liberty in the U.S.A.

As long as you worship Gaia, or Vishnu, or Mohammed, or the Democrat Party you have nothing to worry about.  If, like me, you are a member of some bizarre sect like the Lutheran Church, then you might be in trouble.

Some of the greatest keg parties I ever attended were on the campus of LSU.  Also, some of the prettiest women I ever saw were LSU students.  Still don't think they should have separate graduation parties for Gay/Lesbian students and African American students.

GayFreedomLover: This is one of the problems with Ricochet.  Somebody posts something about some act of absolute lunacy.  People chime in and ridicule it for 20 posts or so, and then the thing dies for lack of controversy.  Anybody out there gonna defend LSU? ยท 16 minutes ago

Thanks to Doug and Johnny Dubya for reminding why I never want to own a unit or a house subject to a collective anything.  Living out in the sticks does have its compensations.

Anyone believe LSU would sponsor a Ricochet Members robing ceremony?  How about a Evangelical Christian robing ceremony?  On the other hand, wouldn't surprise me if they threw in a Muslim robing ceremony next year.

Stan Sneed

Exactly.  Wish I could state the case as eloquently.  Your post raises what in my mind is an obvious question, and one which will have the amber bead wearers frothing at the mouth.  To save the Republic, do we need some kind of qualification to vote besides being born here?  Like demonstrate that you have some idea of the content of the Bill of Rights?  Like have some proof that you produce and pay taxes?  Toqueville pointed out that when the wards of the state figured out they could vote themselves more and more benefits without expending any effort then it would be game, set and match for the Republic.  We are there.

People a lot smarter and more successful than I am continually say that a 3rd party would be a mistake.  The Fed. Govt. continues to grow and continues to impinge on freedom regardless of whether a Remocrat or a Depublican is in the white house, regardless of which controls Congress.

So help me here.  What is the answer if not to start electing representatives that are not beholden to the party?

Never thought I would join Twitter, but hey if the national treasure Mollie Hemingway is out there.............

Fake John Galt: "Back when I went to school I remember my liberal teachers and noted scientists of the time saying that by this time we would be in a new ice age, out of oil and a whole lot of other "truths" that never got close to happening. Thus they did teach me. They taught me to doubt."

Agreed.  After the next ice age, I'll begin to worry about global warming.

Maybe if we cling tightly enough to our guns and religion California will secede and leave the rest of us alone.

Are you kidding me?  the best:   "Round up the usual suspects."

Stan Sneed

I suspect that the vast majority of us who post on this site would not intentionally insult you.  This seems to be a very civil crowd.  The far left, occupy groups are the ones that usually go in for personal slurs.  And if they don't slur you for one thing they'll always find another.

I agree with Barkha that we can build a coalition to oppose further expansion of govt. and further erosion of our freedoms if we stick together and work towards those goals, in spite of the fact that every now and again someone posts a comment that gives offense.

If you want things to change for the better, you have to be willing to stay in the game.  Best wishes whatever you decide.

It would be a coin flip.  Sort of like picking between a headache or a backache.  Could only be more unpleasant if Hill or Chelle came along.

I'm simply tired of our hired hands in govt. being given power to dictate how we live our lives over and over and over again.  Enough.   Don't want those clowns to be enabled to tell me one more thing that I can or cannot do.  I can govern myself just fine.

And yes, I believe the vast majority of non-defense fed. employees are clowns.  State level not much better, local levels often much worse.

Have fun in Nashville you all.

Agreed King P.

The fisc has to be what elections are all about until we get govt. spending under some semblance of control.

Haven't read the article but I will.  My fav. memory of that whole episode was Larry the Cable Guys' crack about Natalie:  "If it weren't for them two good looking sisters, that little fat one would be working at the Lane Bryant store in Nashville."

Republicans equal Whigs circa 1856.
