If this were just another news story about some guy in the midwest and I didn't know who he was? I'd be taking the AP at face value. The only reason I'm not is he's the dad of the "Crazy Uke"and I'm praying they are wrong.

The fact that he is who he is has made me look for more information , praying that I would find that this isn't just a black-and-white, cut-and-dried situation.

(I'm still hoping, but it doesn't look like any nuances of the story are going to come from the AP. They think they've found a Nazi and they are running with it.)

I'm embarrassed to say that my grasp of WWII history is not that of my fellow Ricochet members, and the comments have been enlightening.

Perhaps some of the confusion is the definition of "short" skirts.  At the risk of embarrassing myself ...

this is probably too short given the size of my thighs. (Well, the thighs and I'm 3" taller than the target customer.)

We're not suggesting everyone wear floor length skirts like these:

And you can see from the bottom, I'm not exactly a fashion expert when I'm channeling Colin Baker.

Okay, so I also like showing off my Doctor Who costume collection ... · 22 minutes ago

I'm totally jealous! :D Great costumes, always in style (when one is a Doctor Who fan!) :D

I read the book last year. Loved it. Even the digression into the description of the sewers. Having no idea there were different translations, I just picked up the paperback my son had in his room and started reading. I knew the story (I had seen the musical a few times), but I found the novel itself spellbinding and there were many times when I could not put it down.

Wonderful!

Thank you, Joy.

My local Salvation Army. That's now my charity of choice, and mind if I use your comment on all future requests for donations? :)

Thanks, Rob, I needed this post. :)

You and me both, Joseph.

Frozen Chosen:

I suspect you are trying to forestall a mass exodus from Ricochet from those of us who are ready to throw in the towel - politically anyway.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, for the next few weeks I'll be surrounded by insufferably smug liberals.  Ricochet is my only lifeline to sanity! · 5 hours ago

There's a ribbon for "Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Awareness?"

You gotta be kidding me!

Thank you. It seems as though it's an overwhelming, non-stop push for awareness. On an NFL field? That's not just jumping the pink shark, that makes the Great White in "Jaws" look like a guppy.

It isn't necessary. There seems to be plenty of awareness of prostate cancer, and it was accomplished by disseminating information, not by cutesy bows of color and 60-mile walks.
