When I see the snippets of Romney’s campaign appearances on television, he does not seem to making the connection between Obama’s policies and the results we are getting in the economy.  Therefore people do not blame these results on President Obama and his administration.  It is more like a litany of statistics, and an unnecessary movie review of a movie I have seen so many times that I have memorized part of the dialogue.  In addition, he needs to address the points raised by Clinton.  I just don’t think a fact-based, logical argument is going to convince the remaining undecided voters at this point.

As I watched and listened to Bill Clinton at the Democrat Convention, I felt he gave Obama and the Democrats a framework to successfully run against Romney.  He buttressed his argument with many “facts” that were simply not true and erected many straw men, but the base argument was a persuasive one: Obama inherited a terrible situation caused by Republicans; no president could have done better than Obama did; and the Republican complaint that the recovery has not been fast enough will not be addressed by implementing their “failed policies of the past”—deregulation and tax cuts for the rich.  These are powerful arguments for the undecided voters if they are repeated until they become “truth”, particularly for those who have not been paying attention.

clinton would have never given that speech under ordinary circumstances. that "clinton" speech was supposed to be delivered by obama, but had no credibility with the public, so they borrowed The Centrist and let him deliver the lines.

During the debates, Obama won't be as effective in making the same points, because he doesn't have clinton's bipartisan-centrist reputation.

liberal jim: In the 3rd qrt. of 2008 the economy lost 200K jobs per month, in the 4th qtr.  500k per month.    Asking, Reagan's better off question does not seem to me a wise tactic for one who wants to win the election.  Romney's biggest problem isn't Obama or Clinton,  Romney's biggest problem is Romney.   · 8 hours ago

I agree.

John Marzan

why not use Paul Ryan to rebut the many points made by clinton? and if it becomes a word war between Clinton and Ryan, so be it.

John Marzan

Romney has an awful campaign team, and he should have replaced them a long time ago-- but I don't blame Romney for his libya comment (i was one of those egging him to make it) and this 47% thing was made in May--it was the media who timed it's release for maximum damage (after the libya "gaffe")

the media beating romney is getting will not end till election day

You know what else I'd like to see? The Tea Party coming out and defending the substance of Mitt's remarks--however inelegantly the way he puts it.

katievs: But, personally, I don't like the boss and client metaphors at all.  The Presidency is an office, not a job.  The public wants principled leadership, not someone to do its bidding.

Nor is "lucky" a felicitous term in the context.  If he wins, he should regard it as a high privilege and a solemn responsibility, not a stroke of good fortune. · 6 minutes ago

that's romney going populist, using his business experience to "connect" with voters in a way that they can understand: You are my Boss, I just work for you guys.

John Marzan

Romney's new message should be: If i'm lucky enough to be elected president, I will work for the American people--they are my boss, even those who didn't vote for me.

They are my boss, they are also my clients--and I will look out for the american people's financial and security interest always.

will there be a gangnam style episode next season?

John Marzan

jodi long has the best lines.

steve byrne is perfect as the straight guy. watch his facial reactions to the craziness around the bar.

vivian bang is redundant.

John Marzan

i didnt like the last episode.

Rob Long: Hah!  That's right -- I've always thought of Ok Cha as the truth-telling conservative in the bar.  It's sort of typical, right?  Aren't immigrants traditionally the most clear-eyed about the benefits -- and challenges -- America faces?

Bryan G. Stephens: John,

That sounds a lot like giving in. I am not sure those two things will ever happen after the first part. · Sep 8 at 4:52am

you need to do the second part first, see if it survives the challenges to it in the supreme court by dems and raza-ists.
