Larry Koler: Republicans have to remove the managers who gave us this huge defeat. That's how this is supposed to work. The moderates, David Brooks, Frum, Murphy, Rove, Morris have way too much sway over the party.
They got their way with Romney and the larger campaigns and they lost -- big time. This election was a humiliating defeat for us Republicans.
Worst of all was their inability to give us guidance on the polls -- were they accurate or not? These pundits insisted they were not accurate. We now know they were.
Whoever was advising Romney should be fired and written off for a fool.
Levin is right -- even about NR. It's old and way past its prime. I agree about Bill Kristol, too -- though, I like him and trust him usually. He didn't do his job. · 1 hour ago
Having different "wings"within the party is normal. Having a vigorous discussion or even an internal battle for supremacy within the party is par for the course. Washing dirty laundry in public only serves to invigorate the Left.....In my opinion of course.
Maybe when Republicans stop fighting Republicans (at least publicly) and turn their guns on the real enemy, then perhaps there might be a ray of light at the end of the tunnel.
I too am a white African, and know exactly what Indaba and Red Feline are talking about.
I also lived through the Portuguese revolution (really a coup d'état but that is another story). I saw firsthand how the communists nationalized banks and businesses. I saw how they destroyed an economy and persecuted those that that had been successful.
Fortunately the forces of moderation eventually won out, but unfortunately Fabian Socialism has been so ingrained into the Portuguese mind set , that even the parties considered on the right are Social Democratic.
Portugal did not collapse immediately after the revolution. Instead it has been a quiet, slow, slippery slide to the point in which they find themselves today.
They are so closed off to any ideas from the right, that they simply cannot entertain (or imagine) any other way of running an economy besides tax and spend.
I am not American and I do not live in the States. I will be working on Tuesday and staying up all through the night to follow your elections. I am taking Wednesday off (hopefully to celebrate) as I have more than 280 hours of leave available to me.
Please know that this election is so very important to many conservatives around the world .
I'll be following it all night on the net. I have taken the next day off to recuperate from what I hope to be a celebratory evening. (P.S. I am not American)
Bairro Gotico (just off Las Ramblas) is world on its own. Plenty of shops and restaurants.
I strongly recommend Los Caracoles (C/de Escodalleres 14 - very near Las Rmablas). It is a restaurant that has been maintained by the same family since 1835. Well worth a visit.
