Reminds me of Reagan: "History teaches that wars begin when the price of aggression is cheap." The question may be is permitting a humanitarian crisis signal cheap aggression or does going on an apology tour (focused on past than current military situation)? Or both? Also, reading Urbahn makes me miss Young Guns. Can Urbahn, Senik, Domenech, and Harden do a podcast?

An amazing 40 percent asserted that nicotine was the primary or second-most dangerous toxicant in cigarette smoke. The other sixty percent were outside on their smoke break.

So can we try again to make moves on making this meet up happen? Is next weekend, May 25/26 (Sat or Sunday) too short notice for most?

After a blind-sided attack in the library by the campus eco-club (for not recycling his empty water bottle), our soon-to-be hero finds himself trapped under a fallen bookshelf containing volumes on conservatism. He loses consciousness under the weight of intellectual conservatism. He wakes up at the hospital with a new found Burkean weltanschauung and strength that comes courageous convictions. Ricochet-Man...

Armed with the powers of civil discourse, uncommon knowledge, thick skin (in the game) and lethal lexicon, our hero fights ideological inconsistencies in the ultimate search for truth for its own sake. Ricochetman squares off against rouges and non-profit organizations including his arch-nemesis The Strawman, the Viridian Vanguard (eco-terrorists), e.e.c.c. (ethical eugenics compassionate cooperative), and the American Hedonist Project. Along with his trusty sidekick RinoSquish and anti-hero, femme fatale libertarian love interest Ayn-Archy, Ricochet-Man plays his part in the perpetual American experiment of self-governance. Are his efforts all in vain?... Only time will tell...

10 cents, may have had you beat with my first Oaks experience yesterday; complete with many mint juleps and meeting Louisville's own "Papa" John. Happy Derby Day all!

Rorschach's Journal. October 12, 1985 - "... Now the whole world stands on the brink of staring down into bloody hell, all those liberals and intellectuals and smooth talkers... and all of a sudden, nobody can think of anything to say."

Is the woman who poisons her husband's brown bag lunch a terrorist?  This suspect is America's latest "terror suspect" in so far as his acts have caused fear but it is unconfirmed that he is part of a greater group in a concerted effort to attack the state. That is what an investigation is for, and the investigation started with a warrant. Thank goodness, since we wouldn't want another Ayers to walk.

Do you think the targets make it a terrorist attack? If the husband of the aforementioned woman  is a government official, is it an act of terror? So maybe an attack against the Commander-In-Chief is by default an act of war. Then that makes John Hinkley Jr, Muntadhar al-Zaidi, and Paul Kevin Curtis all combatants in their own wars against the state.

The comparison seems sloppy and ignores the force and scale of war as it is understood. Our current knowledge allows smaller groups and individuals to commits acts consistent with acts of war but similar force is not needed to neutralize the threat. Between recent events, Boston seems more like war than Tupelo.

The reach of progressivism and socialism extends to the cradle of life. Community control supersedes and supplants individual responsibility and accountability. At some point, if the community leaders, who ever they may be or however they gained power, deem your unborn child too costly or potentially unproductive to the group at large, there is justification for community intervention because "kids belong to our entire communities" so the community must determine the best investment.

Any thoughts on setting down a date in the near future?

Ok, I watched the video and while I'm not defending the president's policies at all, most of the shots looked like they were taken not from the free throw line but behind the arc to the left. It was still a poor shooting display and the last few moments were telling. After making his 22nd shot, he walked off the court as if he hit a GW while someone in the crowd chanted "Yes he can." Our culture celebrates mediocrity, even in our leaders, as those leaders tend to see only success in a sea of failures.

We called scoring percentages like that an "offensive black hole"; ball went in, nothing came out. It was usually followed by a good coach taking the player to task, and if he wouldn't, the sidelines and locker room would  fill the gap...

This is one point that I have not heard brought up in the gun control debate, and maybe by linking the two I muddy the waters. If our border is open enough for millions of individuals to cross undeterred, and open enough for millions of dollars worth of drugs to cross, is it too far a leap to think that those people and product might be protected by arms? If illegal drug cartels can bring assault weapons across a porous border, citizens that encounter them in person or on their property would be unmatched for force under proposed weapons bans or gun control measures. Just as a safe and closed border reduces the main dynamic variable preventing illegal immigration from being addressed, the same unsafe and open border exposes our citizens to crime and violence that makes gun regulation a perilous prospect.

Maybe it's a naive question, but can you elaborate on the thought more? Was there something about his prior education the precluded him from being an asset in the field? Also, in addition to the op-ed linked earlier, where would you suggest someone go to get a full grasp on the situation?
