Its a mistake to blend data mining with the simpler concept of tele-polling. The Obama campaign bulit a database from the ground up targeting Battleground states. They populated it with qualified voters and appended in excess of 100 data points on each voter. The database had architectural lifts from multi level marketing organizations. It used a combination  of the facebook/twitter concepts as a communication platform  and " get out the vote"tool .

They redefined the concept of ground game. Rance Priebus, take note

I have heard Mike Murphy on Dennis Miller's show , he was on during 2010 when he spent $125 Million running a California Governorship Campaign by his rule book, that lost by 10 points +. He's now relegated to the senior tour He's a jaded relic of a Political wise guy.

Ever since Instapundit steered me to the Khan Academy http://www.khanacademy.org/ ,I haven been observing the education of 6 grandchildren 6-16. Our public schools are delivering poor training at great expense. Education is very scarce, I cant imagine even 10% of public school teachers through high school meeting Dr. Rahe's definition of education.
