In 2008, Dr. Sowell told us he would vote for John McCain because he, quote, "preferred disaster to catastrophe."
Why is Dr. Sowell going to vote for Mitt Romney?
OR
If Dr. Sowell has given up on politics entirely, has any player in the major league had a more impressive Rookie season than Mike Trout of the Angels this year?
Severely Ltd.: ) They have such a history of Progressivism.
Like IL, small towns in WI have never been progressive. Madison and Milwaukee have been sure. The small towns have always been conservative, though they may have voted democrat in the past. The difference is that now Wisconsin towns are allowed to prosper while the Illinois towns are severely depressed.
Natalie: I hope to one day get back there and retire to a small hobby farm on the outskirts of a small town. That is if we still have retirement when I reach that age. · 40 minutes ago
Every time we visit there we think the same thing... of course if this happes I will likely weigh 400 lbs. With the sausage, cheese and beer, I'm done for...
It's the gem of the midwest. The chapel is gorgeous, as you can see, and there is a first rate cafe' at the foot of the mountain that is staffed by the Shrine. They even have Spotted Cow beer and a full lunch menu...
This comment would have been made had Romney picked any VP of substance. It's simply the next MSM talking point that was thought up 3 months ago... "OK, when Romney finally chooses someone, we have to paint it as harmful to him so we'll just say this..." Simply put in Rubio or Christie and the comment would've been exactly the same, word for word.
Peter Robinson:
But setting up a clash of worldviews doesn’t address Romney’s most glaring policy weakness, which is the (understandable) fear among hard-strapped voters that Republican policies will benefit the rich more than the middle class.
This sure doesn't sound to me like a conservative talking, but merely a NYT mouthpiece. Oh, it's an "understandable" fear that Republican policies will benefit the rich more than the middle class? I guess the middle class voters love being unemployed so we better keep Obama in office, huh? Pretty pathetic.
One thing that might help you feel better about it is making calls for Romney. It's exceptionally easy to do from home, the campaign calls you and sequentially connects to the call recipients so there is no risk of the calls being traced back. It's a few minute's work to set the system up (a similar effort to joining Ricochet, for instance), and then easy to do in spare snatches of 5 minutes during your day.
James, you've been one in favor of Romney from day one. You provide a useful suggestion here for how to support Romney, even if you're not absolutely out of your mind crazy about him...
Has something changed in the way we view and support Mitt Romney over the past five months? It better have; or we can start hunkering down for a second Obama term.
This is an important question. Though many are still not "fired up" over Romney, they better start acting like they are if we are to avoid catastrophe....
That is because it is not, my Lord this is juvenile.
I agree. Juvenile things often make for wonderful posts (like cell phones attached to fake hands...).
But, I think at least one person here, namely Ferguson, might disagree with you. He seems to think the firing was potentially a good thing and justified.
Samwise Gamgee: Have you ever sat in the bleacher section of a major league game, or -- even worse -- a minor league game? If every statement shouted by a sweaty drunk was taken literally and seriously, the entire left field bleacher section of every stadium would be arrested for threats against players and umpires after every game.
You said "sweaty drunk." You know what that makes you! · 3 hours ago
What's the term for someone who hates the Cubs with the passion of a 1,000 suns?... I hate Wednesdays?
Ferguson: If the department feels that he's no longer able to perform his job effectively, it sounds like they made the right move to fire him.
Isn't the question, "is he able to perform his job effectively?" and not "how does the department feel about his ability to perform his job?" Certainly some aspects of reality should govern this decision, more-so than just the department's feelings... or Carl Crawford's... or ESPN's...
Ferguson: . Usually the union would represent the officer if he's fired, so it's more interesting to see if they choose to defend him, compared to other officers that they've defended in the past. · 10 hours ago
This also interested me... unions defend all kinds of shady folks. I wonder if they'll defend speech that is offensive to both the left and the right instead of their usual defense of people offensive only to the right.
Re: 10 things we learned from Romney's taxes
I would have given my real name, but no one cares what it is, as you point out.
And 2, that post never made it to the most commented page, nor did it make it to the main feed.
But thanks for you always interesting and valuable input.
