I think much of the increased revenue is due to profit taking at the end of last year to best the new tax rates (sorry I can't link to a source, I'm on my phone). If revenue goes down next year, than that will justify the lower rates.

I didn't mind him abandoning the campaign to take care of his state when Sandy hit, it was the obsequious praise he started giving to the president he had been calling a failure just the previous week.  He oscillates baldly between obsequiousness and scorn depending on whether or not he is in a position of strength.  It makes him look petty.  I would vote for him in a general election, but not in a primary.

Unfortunately in today's America, it's only unconstitutional if the Supreme Court says it is.  After the Obamacare ruling, I doubt they would strike this down.

The fact that it took several rounds to stop the first robber is what makes the video so powerful.  I would bet that most people think that one shot is usually sufficient to bring someone down.  But it's the bleeding that kills, not the bullet unless you mange to hit the brain or the aorta.  In all other cases the attacker keeps coming or runs away until loss of blood kills him.  Videos like this that emphasize that point are worth their weight in gold.

The "two are one flesh" idea comes from Genesis 2:23-24 and Mark 10:7.  In the first, Eve is created from Adam's rib.  Adam then declares that Eve is woman because she is taken from man and the man shall leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife and they will be one flesh.  In the second Jesus re-iterates that in the beginning God made male and female, he then repeats the command that they would be joined together as one flesh and condemns divorce saying that what God has joined man may not separate. There is no room in these verses to attach them to SSM without destroying their meaning.

I have given up expecting civility.  But not going to report either.  I'm just not a "snitch" by nature. · 17 minutes ago

... lifestyle ... as being unusual, and they're well-trained by now to retort by calling anybody who disagrees with that proposition, no matter

Let's start with the word "lifestyle." · 18 hours ago

You can't complain about "lifestyle".  That is part of the code used (alternative lifestyle) to normalize non-marital relationships by academics, the media, and especially the left for at least the past 20 years. It was chosen to distract the disapproving public from the specific behavior of the people being described (similar to pro-choice instead of pro-abortion) and has been commonly used in any description of homosexual relationships in the major media for as long as I can remember.  Most of us don't read updates to the PC style manual and these language changes take time to percolate through the culture.

This is purely a gift to lesbian couples when the turkey baster and the gay friend just aren't producing results and they can't find another friend to provide the necessary material.  It gives them legal access to vast sums of money to replace the turkey baster with more scientific equipment and sperm donors without having to pay for them.  I suppose it may apply to homosexual men when the turkey baster and the surrogate aren't working but I find it hard to believe there are more than zero of those cases.

Bump this to the main feed!

This is the type of thing Rob Long keeps talking about.  The mother's milk of the left is anecdotal stories of hardship.  We need to match them.  And since life is conservative, ours will be better.

The left loves to blast conservatives for not being science based.  That first video was science based, they just left out the most important science about what they are killing in the procedure.  A company would get sued for failing to inform its customers/patients of so many details on any other transaction.  Shameless!

Birthright citizenship.  Any children they have automatically become citizens and eligible for the vast federal welfare state.  This effectively turns the parents into de-facto citizens since we have decided that we can't split up families by sending the parents of US citizens home when their work VISA or whatever expires.

Find out the one thing around the house that your fiance hates doing and make that your chore.

You can completely ignore the women's tournament until it's final four due to the lack of parity in women's basketball.  The NIT is a consolation prize and doesn't matter so ignore it completely.  Problem solved.

I was my daughters favorite and she insisted she would grow up to be a Daddy when she was 3 and 4 years old.  Now, at 6 she is adamant that she is a girl.  Parents that shortchange their children's development in this way are doing significant damage to them.  I always figured my kids would get messed up enough with me just trying to get them to adulthood.  Second guessing their natures like this would only make it worse.

Somewhere in the past 30 years we have lost our confidence in our culture and replaced it with an arrogance in our own understanding of what is right.  We now have the tail wagging the dog in too many families: the parents succumbing to the whims of the children instead of the parents teaching the children.

Cut regulation!  We argue about tax rates and entitlement structure and they are important.  But each administration adds new layers of red tape on top of existing layers.  The cost burden of the regulations is huge.  I think this is an area conservatives can win on because unlike taxes, regulation touches everyone.  We need to expose the regulations for what they really are: a jobs program for the SEIU and gifts to protect the markets of big business.

Indaba: Anne Hathaway started as the next Julia Roberts and has done her best to break the nice girl mold. Maybe the men like it but I now avoid her movies. · 12 hours ago

I agree completely.  She comes off as pretentious and cold.

Albert Arthur: ... My cousin and her wife are raising to children. It's not about being "nice." It's about experience. There's demonstrably nothing wrong with their relationship or their children. ... · 5 hours ago

The use of the terms wife and husband in SS relationships is jarring and just as wrong as pretending that SS relationships are marriages.

And it is easy to say nothing is wrong with the children.  That was the rational for legitimizing no-fault divorce: the kids are fine.  But they aren't.  There is a deep-seated need in the human psyche for our biological parents and a lot of anguish for those children who are denied that right.  Some deal with it better than others, but I think it far from obvious that the kids will be just fine.
