This may have the been the best Ricochet Podcast ever.

I think we may have one heck of a crowded field in 2016. I can think of 15 people of the top of my head that plausibly would run in that cycle. Good thing most of our "good guys" are young.

So anyone else get the feeling that the Romney campaign completely ignored Paul Ryan?

David Williamson: Scott - the people who voted for Mr Obama didn't care about Benghazi - they might have said "what difference does it make?". · 6 hours ago

True for the "believers", David. But the squishy 10-15% who decided the election could have been swayed, imo.

But we'll never know, which is terribly frustrating. To say the least. · May 11, 2013 at 2:26pm

Obama won because Romney was a terrible candidate who failed to get out the vote. End of Story. Obama could have been caught with a woman of the night and it would not have mattered.

It can be a spectacularly cruel day for women who are barren, who grieve dead children, who failed as mothers or who never married.

I'm glad you noted this Mollie. Here is an article that notes this same thing.

Just because Jay keeps repeating "it was a very appealing ticket" doesn't make it so.

Americans do not have accents.

Southerner's do. ;)

He is also 100,000,000,000,000,000% right about the "consultant culture" and the problem with 2012.

The Speaker's ability at self-promotion is unparalleled in American history.

(not a criticism, just a comment)

~Paules: It means Ryan is a squish.  The conservative position should be that every child deserves a mother and a father.  A child adopted by a lesbian couple will be fatherless.  A child adopted by two gay men will be motherless.  Gay adoption is not an equivalent just as gay marriage is not an equivalent.  Once again tradition loses every time conservatives concede a point.    · 1 hour ago

Standing Ovation for this post. Amen.

When I was in the Marines 10 years ago we were told that we were not allowed to "proselytize" in the barracks. I even remember when one kid who got reamed out for passing out tracts.

ESPN has already "apologized" for Chris Broussard's courageous (actually courageous) statement yesterday on their network.

There will be no dissent on this point folks. You better get used to it.

One name not mentioned in Reince's list of the "bench"?

Rand Paul.

Libertarians take note of the virulent and hate-filled #fireChrisBroussard hashtag and the general reaction of the intolerant Left towards any who question anything but full bore 100% acceptance of and promotion of homosexuality.

"I don't care/doesn't effect me" is not an option in this debate.

(Also note Tim Brando's twitter feed for another example of this)

Mollie Hemingway, Ed.: I find that men and women who fail to keep marital vows fail to keep vows in general. That doesn't necessarily mean they'll make horrific leaders, but if one is taking odds on a thing ... proven inability to keep a promise when it really counted means they're probably not the best at keeping promises to a bunch of strangers like their constituents.

It also just signifies a recklessness and lack of character that is bad for everyone from generals to businessmen to politicians. The key to what ails us isn't less virtue, but a more virtuous people who will elect virtuous leaders (see: Founding Fathers on what would happen if we lost our virtue -- or just look around).

Having said that ... I did have a professor who said he thought that members of Congress should be supplied with cocaine, women and spending cash when they took office. They'd be so busy that they wouldn't have time to pass horrible legislation.

It has a certain logic to it. · 10 hours ago

Well said.

Looking forward to hearing the RINO Squish answer as to why we should embrace this.

E.J. Hill some weeks just outdoes himself. Between this one and the GLOP Elephant piece he is just awesome.
