And trust me, conservatism is raging within the younger generation. I'll make sure of that.

Wonderfully put Joan!! Yes, it does seem we take many things for granted. I always discuss how individuals will criticize a certain system in America, not realizing that they're using that same exact system to do so. Great input.

Yes, it heavily revolves on two philosophical ideas: equality of opportunity vs. equality of results. We need to get them to realize that equality of opportunity (represented in the Declaration of Independence) is much more fair than equality of results.

I don't follow. Does Ricochet have one?

Ty Wilkins

Yes, I agree that politics isn't everything, as well. But I would like to see a large interest in it grow. Good point!

Thank you for the input! So do you mean the discussion of topics such as marijuana legalization to emphasize state's right and how it relates to them? I would, honestly, prefer topics more pertinent to our economic state, but I do see that you mean to discuss topics that could currently be more relative to their current situation and peers. Thanks for that perspective!

Ty Wilkins

Well said! Especially regarding entitlements and how their fellow citizens pay for those through taxes. That's a great perspective.

Ty Wilkins

Very true!! But I would like to discuss more specificity in regards to the effect of such things as economic impact of tax implementation, healthcare laws, foreign affairs, etc. Just like you say that they have to find this in their own way, I would like to know some suggestions of things that will initiate that realization.

By the way, Aquinas has a superb discussion of the cosmological argument :)

Coming from a Texan with a strong southern heritage, the poll seems odd. Nine out of ten individuals I know LOVE vanilla far more than chocolate (Blue Bell all the way!!). However, we do love chocolate every so often. I guess all the vanilla-lovers were too busy eating some and simply missed the poll. Haha

I would suggest Heritage Foundation's Reading the Right Books- A Guide for The Intelligent Conservative. It's an annotated bibliography of various books on different sections of Conservatism anywhere from Public policy to Statesmanship. Enjoy!
