Re: Are We Going To War?
Molly, I arrived at these fine shores during another US administration's vacation from reality. When old orders are under pressure, there is only a small window of opportunity for the well meaning to intervene. That window in the Syrian war is closed now, and short of an Iraq style full invasion, there is very little chance for a good outcome. The liberal forces are underarmed. If we intervene, the Al-Qaeda types will win, if we don't, Iran and the shiites will remain in power.
There is a price to pay for absence of a coherent American policy. Progressives are confused because they have no strongly held beliefs to guide them.
