Wouldn't it be cool if, whenever President Obama had a campaign event or stopped by a restaurant in Boulder, Co. or whatever, Clint Eastwood was there to stare at him, like Inspector Callaghan freaking out the killer "Scorpio" by following Scorpio around everywhere he went in the 1971 film "Dirty Harry"?
The problem is that the Romney campaign is lying to voters when it tells them that Obama is a nice guy, but it's just that his policies aren't working to create jobs or balance the budget or whatever. That is not true. Obama is not a nice guy, and his policies are working exactly as Obama intends them to. You have to tell the voters the stakes involved in this election, and why Obama pushed through his Obamacare legislation at all costs instead of focusing on job creation, etc.
Levin's point is that if you campaign on conservative ideas and if you explain conservative ideas, then you can appeal to everyone. You don't have to try to pander to groups or package your message for various sub-groups. Levin understands better than just about anyone how Reagan communicated conservative principles to voters. And it would still work today, if the Romney campaign would start doing it. Anyone who is curious about this approach should go listen to the Mark Levin Shows from this week, on iTunes podcast or at MarkLevinshow.com. I recommend the Friday show.
"The Drifter" from High Plains Drifter was the same guy as "The Preacher" from Pale Rider? That's a great idea. Pale Rider strikes me as an obvious homage to the 1953 Alan Ladd film Shane with "The Preacher" character being a combination of Shane and the protagonist from High Plains Drifter.
It's hard to pick just one, but Pale Rider is at the top of my list. Magnum Force is my favorite of the Dirty Harry films. I love the scene where Harry plays the role of an airline pilot to thwart a hijacking.
