Claire Berlinski reporting from the capital of the only secular Muslim democracy - Istambul; Ann Coulter for sheer fearlessness, conviction, honesty and truth telling.
Unfortunately I cannot cite the source accurately other than to say that it was a comment posted by a reader in response to a New York Times Article about education that was published some time in 2011/2012.
I copied and saved the comment because I thought it was well written. However I neglected to document the precise source.
Subsequently, I was unable to find the article (and the comment) when I went back to search for it.
(If anyone is able to find the article and comment I will be most grateful.)
I later posted this comment to a private discussion group containing many members from the Upper East Side of New York.
It was met with a furious reaction.
I may post this reaction later, but first I am interested in Ricochet members response to the comment.
On another subject. When are you going to have Ann Coulter on Uncommon Knowledge?
Miss Coulter may, very well offer transcendent conversation, in the unhurried, civil, thoughtful, and informed atmosphere that Uncommon Knowledge provides.
In addition Miss Coulter has a new book due out in October (her ninth).
"Hoover Fellow Peter Robinson, tear down this wall between Uncommon Knowledge and Ann Coulter and stop coasting!"
"In my daily life, I meet almost no one who shares my fundamental assumptions about the world, who takes it as given that free markets produce more prosperous societies, who assumes that the United States is overall a force for good, who believes that the proper role of government is to defend the realm, make a few important laws, enforce them, and then butt out. I meet few people who view Israel, as we've termed it here, as "a normal country." I meet almost no one who shares my hostility to income redistribution or my belief that the Soviet Union was, indeed, the most evil empire mankind has known."
This is what I felt like when I moved to Manhattan, NY, NY, USA.
