"Do you think Piper was right in what he tweeted?"
He might be right in what he tweeted, but he should not use Twitter unless he links to a longer explanation so there won't be confusion.

"Do Christians rush to judgment too much when tragedies occur?"
Yes, but so does everyone else. Athiests right away say "Hey! Where's your loving god now?"  So, we all do it.

Denise, you quoted John 9 (compassion to the individual) above,
but let's not forget Luke 13 (standards to the masses) either..:

"There were some present at that very time who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.  And he answered them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.  Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem?  No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”

I've always dreamed of winning the lottery and then buying a pro sports team.  True story.

Question for Dennis:

If an observant Jew is stationed at the South Pole, and it is January (when the sun never sets), when does Sabbath begin and end?

I like that DA is willing to do what they want and embrace the hardships of life.

It's good that characters come and go.
Plus, if you read this, you'll see that in Britain  actors are only signed up for 3 years so they can move on and do other projects.

In Minnesota, if a married woman has sex with someone other than her husband, she gets a gross-misdemeanor   But if a married man sleeps with an unmarried woman, the crime is fornication, a misdemeanor. Talk about inequality! :)

609.36. Adultery
Subdivision 1. Acts constituting. When a married woman has sexual intercourse with a man other than her husband, whether married or not, both are guilty of adultery and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than one year or to payment of a fine of not more than $3,000, or both.Subd. 2. Limitations. No prosecution shall be commenced under this section except on complaint of the husband or the wife, except when such husband or wife is insane, nor after one year from the commission of the offense.Subd. 3. Defense. It is a defense to violation of this section if the marital status of the woman was not known to the defendant at the time of the act of adultery.

609.34. Fornication When any man and single woman have sexual intercourse with each other, each is guilty of fornication, which is a misdemeanor.

Evil people acting out their evil desires.

(and grounded in evil philosophies like Nietzche. (good call Bereket)).

One could also ask, "How does abortion happen?"
(Knowing that it kills another human being, on purpose.)

If someone thinks that God's only attribute is love, they will have a hard time with all of His attributes; including wrath, justice, holiness, etc.

Or, that God must love all His creatures in exactly the same way, more trouble. For example, I love my wife in a different way than I love my children or my neighbor.  Love is not a one dimensional note.

Kevin P

Her problem started when she thinks that there actually exists a good, innocent person.
Under Christian Doctrine, there was only one "good, innocent person" who had a tragedy befall them, and that was Jesus.
All other humans are born under the curse of Adam, thus none of us are "good, innocent persons".

Kevin P: I second Matt White's comments.

God's revelation is complete.
We don't need anything else than what is already reveled in the Bible.
On topics like these, I listen to great preachers like John MacArthur on these matters. Click link for details.

Specifically, if someone says "God told me I should X", I think they might believe that, but I have reason to believe that it is true. I think they misunderstand how God has chosen to communicate to his people.  See one and two for more on this. · 14 minutes ago

So anyone who gets a divine revelation is automatically untruthful or incorrect? · 23 hours ago

That person might believe they received divine revelation, but I have no basis to believe that person. So, yes, I will say that that person is incorrect; it's not divine revelation.
The John MacArthur piece I linked goes into the details.

Do you believe that "faith" is more important than what one believes, or is it at least a virtue that makes it superior to "non-faith" in the supernatural?

No.
The object that one has faith in matters tremendously.
Faith for the benefit of just having faith is pointless.
The Apostle Paul was clear on this in 1 Corinthians 15:19.  If Jesus did not in actual, historical fact rise from the dead, then Christian faith is pointless and, as I like to say, just a time filling hobby, and a dumb one at that because fishing is a better hobby.

CS Lewis wisely observed:

“Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important.”

Faith is not an end in itself.
Thus, it matters greatly what one has faith in.
Not all faiths are equal. Like it or not, most faiths are exclusive to other faiths.

When will Ricochet start an "Oneida Community" of its own?
(LOL. J/k)
What's the best way for the "center right" to find common ground with the libertarians out there? Is there an issue that should naturally bind the two groups for the common good?

Kevin P

increase the sound quality on Andrew's mic. It was bad.

but i like the content of the show.

I'm 35, and honestly didn't know how the story would end when I watched it, except that since it was a movie, I figured they'd escape.

I loved it. Interesting story, well done, and not preachy. Just the facts.
"Argo F* yourself." LOL !
