"[...]about how America deplores insensitive people who are so insensitively insensitive that they don’t respectfully respect all religions equally respectfully and sensitively, even as the raging mob is pouring through the gates."
To be honest, this line did get a chuckle out of me, but more from the wordplay.
Also, congrats on your shout-out from Mark Steyn.
Wait, am I reading this correctly? Are they blaming Mitt's statement for distracting them from doing real reporting on the Middle East?
Surely I must be misinterpreting this.
Wait, I missed 'inflation adjusted'.
Wouldn't that mean if someone had decreasing inflation then any increase in spending would be hidden? Or, on the other hand, if inflation was increasing it would appear as if spending increased when it could have been decreasing?
I only ask because the Reagan to Clinton seems to plateau late-Reagan through Bush.
I would not call that a spike so much as a steady increase. Between GWB and BO is what I would classify as a spike. Note the discontinuity, it looks like tectonic plate shift.
As to republicans ratcheting up spending, the only thing that stands out here is Bill Clinton's plateau. Spending increase otherwise looks consistent in its rate. I could not draw a conclusion from this that it is based on Republicans or Democrats, though the Obama spike is tempting.
Is there a larger timeline available?
| Indaba: The CBC, Canada's public broadcaster and liberal biased Peter Mansbridge gave a platform to the Iraniam minister to speak about why he was leaving Canada. He did not know, shame, pour soul. Disgraceful that Peter Mansbridge did not ask about the Canadian photographer tortured and killed last year with no explaination for her family from Iran. There is one good reason-silence on torturing a journalist. · 24 minutes ago |
Were the CBC and their news not so disgraceful I may have been more surprised by this. Quite typical of them though, really.
I'd love to see them privatized, or at least do a Maclean's about face and replace Mansbridge with Steyn, Adler or Coren.
And maybe Strombo with Levant, just because it would amuse me.
| MichaelC19fan: I would not recommend this but when the Khwarezmid Shah executed ambassadors sent by Genghis Khan he responded by wiping the Empire off the face of the map. · 1 hour ago |
To paraphrase Sarah Palin, Mr. Khan was in possession of the requisite "Big Stick".

A full embargo, possibly a blockade but there really isn't the money for that. They've committed an act of war, why not return the favour?
As to the "what about the people/innocents/etc.?" if they want any kindness, how about giving us a hand and taking care of the extreme elements. Then you can have your goods.
...I think King Prawn and I may be in similar moods.
No! I want Brad Wall! You can have him after!

And unless we get a conservative majority in our house, I doubt we'll see private liquor. Would sure be nice though! Next step, a private option in healthcare.
Yeah, I never understood that whole isolationist line that everyone seemed to be taking either.
But that's exactly what should be done. Egypt and Libya no longer exist, sever contact and close your borders (for what that's worth) to them.
Agreed, but Alison Redford is no Dalton McGuinty.

The Province is still Alberta, with no sales tax, no Health Service fees. Oh, perhaps I ought to take that back. Although Alison Redford is meant to be a Conservative, she is pandering to the Teachers' Unions. · 22 hours ago |
No bridges, that I took as a given in most cases since it looked quite legitimate.
Given the terrain I would have only missed seeing someone if they were underground, hence my suspicion. In many cases there was no machinery on site. Even my girlfriend noticed it, and she's not one to make those types of observation (particularly when there is scenery to photograph).
Construction aside though, what better way to hide phony job creation than inventing work and having unknowing workers act it out?
"Mr. Obama campaigned for a world where terrorists get the same constitutional rights as garden-variety criminals."
I'd have to disagree with this line of thought as the assumption of Obama protecting/obeying the constitution leaves me skeptical. There'd likely be a lot more innocent bystanders dead from far more unclaimed drone strikes and several apologies but likely no military intervention.
