Mike Nichols and Elaine May did some hilarious comedy in the sixties. Severn Darden did a wonderful sketch as a tour guide in the Art Institute. After he described a classic painting, one of the women in the tour said, "I don't like it." And he said, "Well, your wrong!"

He evidently wears the same suit every day, too. That's creepy and other things, as well.

The tragedy of the state of American political culture is that whether it be for reason of apathy, self-absorption, dedication to family, endless distraction, busyness, lazyness, or procrastnation, those who are least informed, whimsical, impulsive, dreamers inspired by factless fantasy and mindless emotion cast the deciding vote.

What appeals to this rabble is anyone's guess, but it is a certainy that reasoned evidence would not be in the mix. Since they have no context for your best argument, they are susceptible to anything that will pique their interest. They will nibble and take a quick bite at that flashy thing in the water and be reeled in not having the slightest clue what that one seemingly insignificant decision has done to alter their lives forever.

It seems I remember some aversion therapy applied by the aggrieved in The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo that proved effective and affective in a subsequent contact with the offender. My guess is it would not be difficult to fund the research team. 

Having worked in hospitals for the past 30 years, "relatively painless" sounds suspiciously like "you're going to feel a little pressure now" just prior to the chest tube insertion through the rib cage.

Way to, words fail me here--way to put your best foot forward, old chap!

Troy, I feel your pain. I'm represented by Bobby Rush in Illinois. On the other hand, when was the last time you heard Bobby Rush weighing in on anything? At least we have the good fortune of never hearing any of his opinions.

A nice feature would be when the cover is put down that it would flush automatically. I'll commit to the 24-hour prayer chain praying for timely rain.

I feel a great sadness when tragedy is celebrated. It's like two conversations about the same topic that can never inform each other. When some celebrated 911 around the globe, I immediately knew they were my enemies a priori. But in my own neighborhood are those who honor a person's decision to kill their own baby as a Constitutionally protected right. They are my neighbors--my friends. How can that be?

The values of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that provided our country's social structure, a structure of mutual respect in which all have inherent value, have been utterly perverted by the culture of personalized anarchy inspired by Roe v. Wade.

This, in all its ugliness, is a perfect example.
