Apple...come to Canada where our conservative government has our corporate taxes down to the lowest level in the G8 and maybe the G20. They changed the tax code to make it easier for American investors. Silicon Valley gets told to do their companies in Canada where there is a tech hub. Just don't do our other taxes...

Welcome back, Matt. Good to hear about your time and how you spent it - your lucky family.

I was amused that your shopping was influenced by Ricochet and i remember being startled by John Yoo of all people asking about guns and then the torrent of advice, with photos, from Ricocheti. So you went with the good doc's advice? That is what Ricochet is about. Someone described it as a clubhouse of like minded people. Thank goodness for it.

So what was your favourite poem in the 101 anthology? Was that by Ted Hughes? He did a great audio tape.

Sexuality is such a powerful life force.

How come Mitt Romney with his five sons was not seen as the ultimate he man? Why was his faithfulness not put up at the same level as Obama's cool factor. The answer is too awful to contemplate.

Thanks for the heads up. Econtalk has some interesting people.

@Peter Gothgen, comment #25, you put it so aptly about Kirk. In all the TV Star Treks, his libido was fun which these movies have not recreated. I was wondering why the sexuality does seem so dull.

Kirk is a child, not a man.

I did find myself thinking about Ricochet and the take down of the family.

Isn't the science officer, the Admiral's daughter, the mother of Kirk's son in the later? Is Kirk, the ultimate dead beat Dad?

i did love the whole movie. I watched it on Imax which really made it. The red planet scene at the beginning was spectacular and the audience cheered as the Enterprise reared up from the sea to go and rescue Spock.

we are going to watch the original Khan tonight.

it is true that these stories belong to the audience as we all have a connection.

Dave, well written. To give Piers Morgan support, it does take quite a while to understand the American constitution and just how much the founding fathers understood human nature and the allure of power.

The podcast with Paul Ryan and Peter Robinson talk about how you can be Catholic and Conservative and how the Catholic Church published their displeasure with Reagonomics. Paul Ryan talks about free markets and how that is confused with business cronyism. Ryan also speaks about not putting government in the centre of the citizens lices but rather as the support. Worth hearing.

Lots if Canadian songsters mentioned: avril, joni, celine and then old Elton is married to a Canadian too. OK, don't throw rocks at me...get it rocket man...rocks...oh, forget it...

Someone notify Bill Clinton.

Glad you got a sponsor with Audible Books. James Taranto is one power house. Good to hear reporters like him still exist and his take on the IRS being so serious made me realize the severity of it. Jay's views of the people standing up to tyranny was welcomed.

I was trying for alliteration but it's a weekend here in Canada and global warming is only just showing up...so I will be totally tanned in Toronto.

Brian Watt#15 comment points out that the appalling results and history of socialism are not touched with a nine foot barge pole in the Pope's speech. Catholics, I sure hope you are speaking with your priests this weekend and getting them to send a letter to the Pope.

Very worrying.

Spot on, Spin.

My favourite scene was Ironman looking aftervPepper while the real Ironman is in the lab obsessing over his work. So funny...

Now for Star Trek's quips, got it lined up this weekend.

When i moved to North America, i was amazed by daily showers or baths. In Africa, my boarding school allowed two showers a week. Spray nozzels to wash your hair over a basin.

Hot pizza delivered to your door. Dairy Queen mint milkshakes, malts.

McDonalds big Macs.

Halloween.

The level of trust between total strangers.

Listening to Downton Abbey soundtrack in my car and thinking of Tabula Rasa in my fabulous community, Ricochet.

I do not like the loss of religion but mainly for its music, fun and sharing. Here in Canada, the churches are so anti business and its all about the poor. There was a time when my family business was so underwater with debt, that the poorest person had far more net worth than me.

The video does not work in Canada.

. It reads, unless you are willing to give up your free health care, you can not watch this show.

First of all, Canadian health care is not free. It is paid by taxes and check out the average personal tax and then sales tax against the average American personal tax and...oh you don't have state and federal sales tax?

Then in Ontario, everyone pays another one thousand dollars. It is removed from your salary by your employer and paid straight to the government so you do not notice it.

want Sandra Fluke birth control pills? Oh, those are not covered. No drugs are covered. When they say free, there is a great deal you do not get to know.
