The Whole Foods CEO has been a very public opponent of Obamacare. It does not seem to have hurt their stock very much. I think these "boycotts" against companies are way way overblown. I think Ben and Jerry are loonies, but one scoop of Chunky Monkey takes the blues away.
I propose the following to UCLA. I think the Asian box should be subdivided into South Asian, Southeast Asian, Pacific Islander, and Asian Asian. The South Asian box should be further subdivided into Indian vs Pakistani vs Bangladeshi. Each of those boxes should be further subdivided into ABCD (American Born Confused Desi) and the FOB (Fresh off the Boat) boxes. Finally those boxes could be divided into ability to speak mother's tongue or not.
However, until Republicans -or anyone for that matter, comes up with concrete and explainable ideas for what to replace it with there is no hope for reform or repeal. I know the abstract arguments we make are true, free markets and deregulation would go along way in lowering costs and providing more coverage. So would tort reform for that matter. But those arguments don't hold water with most people.
Meanwhile the other side is promising more coverage, lower costs, and the thrill of punishing the wealthy by making them pay for it. It doesn't matter that they can't deliver those things, the brain poor populace is already hooked on those promises and blames conservative obstructionists, not Obama, for a failure to deliver. · 2 hours ago
Absolutely this is the challenge. The long game for the Democrats is single-payer which will be easy to explain to Americans. Our side needs simple, easy to explain market solutions in healthcare.
A lot of what if's in the article, but if the democrats are successful in keeping the poor Hispanic vote monolithic, the numbers in Texas become very challenging
The other side of the disability coin is the prolonged period of time it takes to determine disability in obvious circumstances.....the rampant abuse of the system takes away from people truly in need.
A fantastic idea. A small fraction of that $1 billion dollars that Romney raised should be a good start on funding. How about a "pro-choice" ad on the lines of Rand Paul's questioning an energy department official? This is the best example outlining the hypocrisy of anti-choice consumerism.
Nostalgia is powerful in sports and politics, and it is difficult to recognize greatness in the moment. The current tea-party/libertarian Republican bench of Ryan, Rubio, Cruz, Paul, etc, etc are the grown-up children of Jack Kemp. They are every bit as articulate and attractive as Jack Kemp.
My job entails weekly "you are dying talks" sometimes with patients that I have taken care of for years. I don't cry then, but then I find myself crying at sappy commercials and Disney movies
Re: How to Sour the Press on Your Administration
Where is that Nixon-Obama mash up?
