I posted the video (below) on the member feed a few weeks ago. But this is the kind of cutting edge stuff that might be useful for conservatives to explore through, as you say, experimentation.
Apparently, the emotion of disgust correlates with conservative political positions. Conservatives are easier to digust, liberals harder. But evoking disgust in anyone induces them (ever-so-slightly) to take more conservative political positions. Even something as simple as reminding people to wash their hands can cause a measurable tilt to the political right.
The guy in the video seems to imply as certain points that this is a negative characteristic of conservatives. I don't agree. But in a "bare-handed fight to the death over a 2-point margin," who cares? Let's put this information to good use. How about signs posted at polling places, reminding people to wash their hands after using the voting machines?
My prediction is that Mr. Romney will win with 320 electoral votes and 53% of the national vote. That's my conservativeestimate. It could be a lot worse for Mr. Obama and probably will be. So, buck it up, people. This one is nearly in the bag. · · 39 minutes ago
I love the optimism here. But, unless something big happens (or unless the polling in blue states is beyond-the-pale skewed), 337 is the maximum number of electoral votes Romney could get (by taking every state currently "in play"). 320 as a conservative estimate doesn't seem to hold water. And even some of these "in-play" states (Michigan and Pennsylvania in particular) are an uphill climb for any Republican.
Don't get me wrong -- Romney will win. But he'll win with between 285 and 301 electoral votes.
It's refreshing to see Romney making a strong case against the entitlement state. But he should be more careful in how he presents it. While the statistic that 47% of people pay no federal income taxes is true (and disturbing), it probably isn't very persuasive to those people who don't pay income taxes but do pay other federal taxes (payroll taxes, for instance). Romney risks insulting and alienating them if he doesn't choose his words (and tone) wisely.
